I am getting weaker and weaker. I looked at an 06 Mustang GT today and was very close to buying it. All I keep telling myself is "wait" for an SE.
I just think its a crime that we have to wait so long for an SE Mustang. GM & DC doesn't seem to have a problem releasing performance models - and Ford is in better shape then either one of them.

It wouldn't be very hard to increase the H.P. in the 4.6L or drop a 350-400H.P. 5.4L in the Mustang.
Adding special stripes, new leather seats, spoilers & ground effects are cheap & easy. Why the wait?

I wonder what some of the minor items are on 06 models

Well John I dont see any point in waiting for an SE Musstang when you can be enjoying a GT right now. I love my 05 GT, enjoy it every day. Hard to say when we will ever see an SE modle we all can afford. Besides you can always tade in or sell the GT when an SE comes out. I dont think myself Ill ever sell my 05 GT, might buy an additional Mustang , but I love my GT and I look forward to all the mods I want to do as I get her paid off.

runfox, I am going to wait till next spring, and if there isn't any solid info on a SE, I am going to buy a Mustang GT.
That will give me an extra 10 or 12 months to save more money!

Rumor had it, that the 2007's were going to have 320h.p., but it looks like that isn't going to happen.

If you keep waiting, they'll ALWAYS be something better out down the road. Just get the darn car and enjoy it, unless its only a year or less away :-p

Yeah. I am killing myself too trying to figure out whether to order an 07 model this summer or wait and hope I can get the 2008 SE on the x-plan (assuming the SE is bringing something to the table besides cosmetic changes). I keep flip flopping back and forth and trying to decide to get the 07 and go stealth with a SC for extra horsepower if I need to or wait for a SE and hope for a N/A 5.4L w/ 375+ horses!! I gotta **censored** or get off the pot!

I would like to buy something that is going to retain some value, and something that I am going to enjoy for a really long time. With an SE, you get that! Plus, two of my friends have GTO's, and I want to kick their Butts!

Back when the Mustang was unveiled in Jan of '04, some of them sported this hood with what sure looks like provisions for a shaker scoop. Seems to me at some point, they had plans to make one available. Hopefully the SE's, such as the Mach 1 did not get axed as reported in Motor Trend and this hood will become reality.

For all those waiting for a high power SE (like me) I wouldn't trust Ford to give us what we want with gas prices the way they are. By 2008, who knows what will happen. I believe Ford's primary focus will be fuel effiecient & alternative cars. Leaving very little interest in our Mustang.

I believe our cars already have this provision. Check out the picture of the bottom of the hood from the CDC Shaker installation instructions. It's covered up by the hood blanket, but the space is there.

Some people have surmised that what appears to be a "shaker" area is really an indent to clear the intake plenum on top of the engine. It does look like it was preplanned for a shaker scoop though.

Shaker is old school, really old school.

First, center of the hood is the worst place to put a functional hood scoop (unless you put it a foot up in the air like a pro stock car).

Second, the throttle body, and air intake are at the front of the engine (in case no one noticed, they don't have a carburator).

Third, the right place to put an air intake to get some postitive pressure airflow inhancement is right in the grille. Time to rip out those fog lamps and make a real cold air intake, just like the 1964 Fairlane Thunderbolt.

The shaker is for looks and does not help performance. I don't think there is anybody here that thinks otherwise. No different than the many spoilers and body effects that have no bearing whatsoever on street performance. The last Mach had a shaker and it also had a TB so that is also not an issue.

You are just missing the point. There are many, many people that want a shaker hood on this version of the Mustang. It is a perfect fit for the styling of this car. It is definitely old school but so is the entire body styling. Leave my fog lights alone and give me a shaker hood. I could care less about the extra 5 hp you will possibly get from the air intake in the grill.

There is a fine line between functionality and non functional add ons.
The GT/CS has already crossed that line - in the wrong direction.

I'm afraid that the shaker is about to jump the shark, if it hasn't done so already.
