I had to switch dealers because they are marking up the mustang out here in So. Cal (I originally ordered 7/12) so I went through BEK (ordered 9/16) and he hooked me up right away, got my vin# 1ZVHT82H555112134 and build date of 10/25. He did all this within a week of me ordering the car from him.

Anyone have updated daily production numbers? 400 I'm guessing.
AS of this week, AAI is doing 500 cars/day

I see all of the VIN's you guys are posting and I am just assuming that all of them have a "0" preceeding them. The VIN's being assigned now are in the 112000 range and higher so if they are sequential then it could take months to build just what they have orders for up til today. That or I am just confused?
It looks like vin#'s are being set up well out in advance now, as production is ramping up.

I don't think they are building them sequentially then. My last four is 5151, and it was built yesterday according to my dealer today! Plus the VIN now shows up at CARFAX which it didn't before.

Plus more good news. I was told that Ford won't actually ship my Stang to the dealer in Florida until 3 weeks prior to the pick-up date I've arranged, so it'll get there about 10-13 days before me, but that is all.
I have the last four VIN 5101 and from my experience they have been built sequentially. Mine was supposed to be built this week so I'm assuming mine was built Monday or Tuesday.
My sonic blue gt went on line on tuesday 9/28/04 to be built, vin 2996.

I don't want to panic anyone here but if Ford has preorders for 25,000 and they can only produce 100,000 the first year (assuming their making 300 a day) then the demand will be higher than the supply. I think that once the media blitz hits Ford will be going 's with preorders. I can see now why many dealers are reluctant to sell this car at the x-plan price and probably won't until their lots are full of them, and I don't see that happing soon. I don't have a crystal ball or anything but those of you who are waiting until spring to order your car might be too late. I would keep an eye on that number of preorders if I were waiting, and if it gets up to 80,000 or so, I would place an order asap.

I couldn't agree more ICEMAN. I really believe this car is a homerun and won't ever be available on lots in large numbers if at all.

Pretty close to my VIN Dallasw77 but no build date yet for me. I was hoping for the second week of October. I will check when I get home.

You received preferential treatment.

GTs will not be on lots in any quantity until next year, at the earliest. You guys are right, the general public is not even aware of this new car yet. When Ford starts publicizing it, I think it's going to be a stampede. Think about it ( I guess you do)
What other good looking, V8, iconic, sports car is there on the market that you can buy for 25K?

Better call and tell no one to drive it. i know if I worked there....I would work your new car.
I've already taken care of that. They stated that they'd even leave the shipping wrap on it if I wanted. I told them that the dealer that I bought through stated that there should be no more than 10 miles MAX on it when I pick it up. They then stated they'd doubt if it'd have that many, probably more like 6 or 7. They agreed to park it, and not in the showroom. They said they have a strict policy of not touching cars that have been preordered, paid for, etc. So, I feel pretty safe now.

They just want me to call a couple days before I get there so they can have someone scheduled to handle the transfer with me.

I'm thinking of asking them to tint the windows also before I arrive.......we'll see.

ALSO - they said they won't place dealer emblems on it either, since I didn't actually buy it through them. I bought through ENCS.

Hey Indystang my VIN is right close to yours and I don't have a build date either. (112200) Just by using other people's VIN's and dates they said their cars were built I have come up with about 14 days from now. October 15th sounds about right.

Unhappy

They are currently building 500 cars per day and are ramping up to 800 per day. By the end of October they will have around 17,000 units built. This is based on the information they have made public not insider news. I would never be able to share insider info.

Dudes. This is my 1st post. I've just been floating for like a week. But all I wanted to say is that to you guys who KNOW your car is built. I don't know how you can stand it. If I knew my car was already built & just sitting on a lot somewhere I would probably be going after it & demanding the keys.

:drive:

Im still wondering if waiting for a dealer to get the car I want will be faster than directly ordering what I want. Afraid that if i do find the car I want from the dealer, that it may be used as a test-drive car or something bad like that.

Personally, I'd wait a little. There's a chance you can get some incentives if you're patient, or rethink everything you want. And there's something called "oportunity costs of capital". The idea being that if you have money for a couple months (even just a deposit), it earns you interest or you can use it to earn more money. If you give it to the dealer, then they're making money with your money. Granted a couple months on a smaller deposit probably isn't a huge amount, but still, get in the habit of delayed gratification and thinking about the tradeoffs, and you'll be a better businessman.
