We know that the Magnum 500s they make fit 1999-2004 cars, which means they won't fit 2005s.

actually, the lightest rims you can buy are made of steel, not of aluminum.

Steel rims may (I say may... this is not valid for all types of rims) be lighter than aluminum rims of the same diameter and width because there are certain steel alloys that are both quite light and much, much stiffer than aluminum, so you have to use less material. I was very surprised when I read about that, but it's true.

The wheels in there catalog are 17 and 18 inch (not original for 67). Why would a company finance a one of a kind if it didn't intend for there to be some form of large market... I could almost see a Windevil Blue GT looking like the attached 67..

Wheel Vintiques makes the 17" rims for this Mach 1 done by Classic Design Concepts. They are probably made for Mustang Owners who like that style as much as I want to believe its for a Shelby.

Perhaps in some multipiece design using a very high grade forged or rolled steel rim and a forged alloy (AL or MAG) center. I imagine TI would also be a very good, if pricey, wheel material.

But I just don't want Ford to go too far with the Retro thing. A little bit, i.e., deftly executed yet fully modern interpretations done for historical reference rather than recreation, is fine. But too much just ends up looking stale, awkward and out of place, as if the designers got stuck in some mental rut circa the 1960s and can't come up with anything new or original. Sort of like seeing someone walking down the street wearing bell bottoms and a tie dyed tee shirt or something - interesting, yes, but really out of place.
