New SE Mustang
Just wondering if anyone has heard of any Se cars that ford is looking to introduce? I am just curious if they will try to release anything Se before the release of the new cobra. My guess is that they will wait and see what the sales do. If they start to fall off they will come out with a new Se car to try to regain sales.
The FAQ Says "- Ford has said repeatedly the earliest to expect a SE is 2007MY for 2006. The status of engines, designs, or anything related to the cars has not been confirmed at this time." The rumor around the forum is there will be one before the Cobra.

I feel stupid asking this, and my dad would slap me if he saw this post but, I see the term "Vert" thrown around a lot. What does it mean exactly? Excuse my ignorance.

Without getting into the specifics, it looks like Shelby will either be coming out with their own car sold through Shelby (and with a very limited production - 100 or so), or they will work with Ford but not before 06MY at the earliest.
I can confirm that they are working on something but more than likely it will appear at NAIAS unless the schedule gets pushed up.
Seems as though both Shelby and Ford want to gauge reaction to a concept before going forward. This means no Shelby SE in the spring unfortunately.
KaptinGT says his sources tell him a California Special might be offered as an 06.
That's the most up to date info.

California always seems to have their own dealerized 'special editions'
They had the pony package before it became the 'ford package' which isn't exactly a 'special edition'
We'll see.
And no where does it say SE = Mach1.

Yep, I have seen pictures from a Ford corporate powerpoint of the California Special. It was only for a minute and I was too focused on their concept art of Shelby GT 500, Mach 1, Cobra, and Boss to care about the Cal Special.
It said the first planned SE would be in 2007 (except for the Cal Special which is 2006 but like I said it's more like slight modifications and not anything I personally would hold out on buying a 2005 for).

Nice...its going to be the same all over again.
First couple years, nothing outta the ordinary, then BAMMM to keep interest up...they'll drop the Cobra bomb and some other cool stuff...
Can't wait, yet not enough MONEY!!!

Yeah, I saw it coming. I just looked at 1999 and 2000 and then how in 2001, boom, Bullitt and then Mach 1. It's nice though that they're considering numerous SE's instead of just 2. The only one I could probably afford is the Bullitt but seeing how I need a car (my current lease runs out when I graduate in May 2005), I can't wait over a year for just a SE with slight enhancements and try to find a car to drive while I wait. I'll just buy a 2005 GT and be happy.
Yeah, you can't just wait and wait and wait....cause then you'll have nothing. Might as well get something your happy with (like me and a GT...which will fill my apetite ....for now
)

After all the specualtion in the last year I'm starting to think differently about what Ford is doing. Lets face it, the V6 and GT sales are huge by themselves. The Cobra isn't needed until 07. Thats when the competition will be out. No way do they want a big name SE car to start getting stale while GM releases new performance cars.
More importantly, Ford has a large roll out over the next year of many different vehicles that are all new models. They are concentrated now on restoring the brand name across the entire brand. A SE Mustang may have to take a backseat to this for now.

PS: Appearance SEs (California Special) in most peoples book, aren't real SEs.

I wasn't talking about Tape/wheel packages. I consider a SE to be something that Ford actually puts some time into creating. B)

Whatever.
