so i'm driving around one weekend and end up in long beach near BPs oil refineries and thought it'd be a cool place to get a shot. I worked my way onto the grounds. security left me alone once they realized i was only taking pics of my car. I gotta go back though. pics looked fine on the viewfinder but i havent gotten used to taking pics in low light yet so enlarged they dont look all that great. cool backdrop nonetheless.

I need to get a tripod.....I can hold a camera steady for ten minutes, but when I go to take the pic, my hand shakes. Must be the pressure!

What color is your car? That picture looks great. Night shots are some of the most dramatic pictures you can take. Can't wait to see more.

Yes, if you're taking night shots, you'll need a tripod. Ideally you would use a "remote" so you're not touching the camera when you take the picture. Or if you have a timer on the camera you can use that instead.

The point is, no matter how steady your hand is, you can't hold the camera PEFECTLY during the extended time the camera leaves the shutter closed (open?) to allow more light in during a low light level shot.

Makes for some interesting colors sometimes, too. Check out this picture of my '03 in the garage with no flash.
