OK, this will be my first Mustang. I liked the late 80's early 90's ones growing up, but was never crazy about them. I didn't even used to like the latest body-style until just recently.
So my question is, am I the only one that the 05 has had this affect on? Now any time I see a Mustang, any year, I tend to appreciate it a lot more. Just saw jay_wx's stang in a previous thread. Man, that's beautiful, and I wouldn't have given it a second look just a couple of months ago.
So congratulations Ford, this new one stirs something in the soul. Congratulations to all the current and future owners of these great Pony Cars.

Nope your not the only one, I always wanted a stang, but either the timing was off or the opportunity wasn't there. But when I saw the concept for the 05 I started saving my pennies. So now I am the proud owner of Pony. Thanks Ford for helping me through my early mid-life crisis.

Now you know why those late '60s cars were so popular. Ford got the design right way back then...and they've finally done the smart thing and brought it back.

So no surprise the '05 is generating so many positive comments...suddenly it's 1969 again, dude - when musclecars ruled the Earth!

You're not alone... I really started warming up to Mustang when the SN95 first came out, but insurance was too high @ age 19... Took a while before the '99+ GTs grew on me -Heck, considered a Bullitt eventhough I hate green! Then I heard they were redoing them for 2004, so I figured I would wait.. I'm so glad I did

Now I wave to all mustang owners I see...

I've taken much better care of my car since I started coming to this site actually. The 05 has just really gotten me to appreciate my car.

I too appreciate ANY year now. I liked the 60's early 70's, liked the past few years, but hated the Fox bodies. Just yesterday coming home from work I saw a Fox body & just drank it in with my eyes & thought "There's one proud driver." They're part of the heritage & kept it going. I've saved all the pictures of the timeline years & shows onto my computer (hope that's ok Brad) It's fun organizing the folders & viewing them any time.
Here's to Mustang. All years, all models.

My first car ever was...........a 1979 cobra........Which my father promptly blew the engine out of hotrodding. I had it 8 whole hours.
Growing up my dad kept them around because he drag raced them on the weekends, whole parades of mach ones, and 65-68s. Last one he had was a 1966 white convertible with red interior. Was to be mine but he started his own business and had to sell her. I still give him hades about that.
I graduated in 1991..........The year of the 5.0 I sooooooo coveted a red one.
Something has kept me from getting a mustang since then........Always something, its my golden goose...
BUT Instead I bought a 1992 Sunbird by Pontiac got busy living and being married and getting a real life off the ground... then a 1994 Ford Ranger..(hubbys back when we had one car at a time)
in 1995 it was time for a new car......but by then I had 1.3/4 little babies..........I bought an elantra, which I can only say didn't kill me or mine in the hundred thousand dollar accident of July 97... So I bought a neon...............Which I can only say kept me amused until I became embarassed to drive it. So I bought an alero........which I still have. The rest of the 90s were really easy, I didn't like the 94-99 ones at all. But I have been locked into the never ending do it right car loan for the olds since Christmas of 2000......

I saw this new mustang somewhere on the internet a long time ago(anyone remember the red vert like my barbie mustang?), and I Was hopping mad forever because the concept was a 2 seater, and 2005 was the new year of the car. Early this year, I saw the pre production, fell in absolute love and began my stalking of the car dealer. First ETA for them was May I read........then August...........but then I moved over the summer to get my kids in a good school system.. little postponement, but won't kill me.
THEN I saw the convertible..............and OH YES I must have this. Since I decided to do it properly for the first time ever, I am making double car payments on the olds, trading it in, paying off all my bills and getting in fit shape before she comes home. I will keep her until 2010, give her to my daughter and pass the love on to a new generation.
Absolutely gaga in love with this new mustang. I have even finally gotten my husband to thinking because I don't want a yellow car, perhaps we need two of em. (Bronco needs replaced).
First car ever I will order from the factory to my specifications. No one will ever touch her but AAI, transport and the Ernest Mccarty detail guys.Public will not see her me before I take delivery. She will be mine all mine, and I will love her forever.

John, you're just now getting really bitten by the Mustang bug. There's no cure, but that's OK - it is a condition you can live with!

I was bitten with my first Mustang, and I've never been the same since. I've been without a Mustang for three years now and it's getting to me!

Yep, pretty much the same for me. I've always liked the 60s models, but never really got into the rest of them. While shopping for cars the past few months, I did consider getting a couple of different mustangs, mostly because I knew my husband would like to have one around and THEN the 05 arrived at the dealership. We had seen pictures a year ago, but never thought we could afford one so I didn't think much about buying one until he jokingly said (about shopping for cars) "If you wait a couple more weeks, the new mustang will be out". So I looked it up on the net and was pleasently surprised with the price - I was expecting them to go overboard on that part. Of course, I HAD to have one...and now I do. I definitely pay a lot more attention to other mustangs now.

It will be interesting to see what affect the expected popularity of this new generation will have on values of the classics and other more recent styles. I won't be surprised to see a more widespread awareness and appreciation - especially for the 60s models like our vintage conv.

We've owned our Candyapple Red 66 Sprint 6 cyl convertible for all the 18 years of our marriage (her first Christmas present from me - they've been all downhill from there!). My wife was the real Mustang lover at first - I enjoyed the vintage style but always longed for exactly what the 2005 is - a modern interpretation of that classic style. Now my enthusiasm far exceeds hers!

The '66 remains in fair 'daily driver' condition but I think with our renewed family interest in Mustangs we'll do the paint and top to get it looking good next to it's arriving sibling. Our teens have definitely had Mustang fever for a few years - esp the 2 boys and the driving to school in either Mustang is sooo cool for them. This new Mustang has definitely hightened the interest for each of us!

I always loved the 60's Stangs and was never really into the 80s or 90s but I fell in love with the '05 back when it was a concept and it made me start looking at Mustangs as a whole more closely. Before I knew it I was buying a 91 5.0L that I love and also loving every minute of my 2005 GT. Its safe to say that the '05 took me from having an interest and respect for Mustangs to being completely in love with them.

That's basically the same story here. My wife was the Mustang lover, and when I met her, I started getting into them as well. We never would have purchased our '66 if it wasn't for her. Now I have the Mustang fever much worse than she ever did!
