Yah know, order#1 you're right. It could be worse, imagine a 2 month delay due to a $50 engine cover...

3) 06 & 1/2 COBRA NEWS He said its for sure a 5.4 supercharged pushing 450 hp. But again that can change due to calibration.
Since the 03-04 Cobra S/C 4.6 really puts out around 420 HP, 450 for a 5.4 S/C doesn't sound like much of an improvement. Unless that 450 HP way under rated like the 390HP for the 03-04 is and in reality it will be close to 500 HP.

Probably underated at 450. I'm more interested in the release date for the car. Is it going to be 2006 or agree with the SVT powerlease deal which runs to 2007? Ford usually has screwy release tables for the Cobra so if it is a 2006 model we can see it as early as next spring.

All indications are that the SVT Cobra will appear in mid 2006 as a 2007 model.

Love the sonic blue...

dissappointed about the 18's, i'll probably try and do a swap of somekind for the 18's when the 06's come out. Maybe a dealer will give credit or something like that.

More sonic blue pics requested

Like someone said, you guys will be able to buy aftermarket covers. UPR is probably seeing this information and making some crazy looking one right now.

Only thing missing is a full car shot of the sonic in this set.

Crap about the 18's though. I'm very tempted to go aftermarket. Not sure I can wait another year to put 18's on my car. :bang: :bang:

I called SVT when the powerlease came out. The guy then said start production in April 2006, available june 2006, labeled '07 model.

This months Mustang Enthusiast SVT write up says start production june 2006.

Sounds like we are looking at 24-27 months for it.

I must be missing something.

Why would people want an engine cover?!?!?!?

When I look under a car's hood, I want to see the fricken engine and not a piece of aluminum or plastic. Is there something I am not understanding?!

you're only covering the intake manifold, not everything like other foreign companies literally do.

so why would you want it covered? Doesn't it look cooler without the cover? Are there any comparison photos?

Just FYI:

An Article in Fortune Magazine (June 28 2004) about Bill Ford and the Ford Motor Company...

...Meanwhile, Ford will introduce a fleet of attractive 2005 models this fall. Product launches are tricky these days, akin to opening a blockbuster movie during the crowded summer season. Everything has to work just right to extract the maximum commercial potential. But the retro-style Mustang should be irresistible to loyal customers. Likewise, Ford has gotten positive buzz for its new Five Hundred sedan and the Freestyle crossover sport utility, which will displace the aging Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable for Ford's assembly plant in Chicago. Still, the market for rear-drive, sporty cars isn't growing, so the Mustang won't do much for Ford's market share, and although profits per car are higher for the Five Hundred and the Freestyle, fewer will be sold, giving another hit to market share...

The article goes on to say that Ford won't have much to offer the public as a whole (mustang fans excluded) until next fall when the redesigned Explorer and the Ford Fusion formerly known as the Futura make their debuts.

What this means is there may be more hype here on the forums than there is in the general population. I think we'll all be able to get exactly what we want, since Ford is going to crank these cars out faster than they've ever mass-produced anything on an assembly line.

Just FYI

www.uprproducts.com Not that they will have the cover or any other 05 stuff yet. I like the look with the cover and if you have ever lined your car up at a show and lifted the hood, most others will too.

Don't know if I can wait for the 2006 Model, but I really want those stock 18 inch wheels! I do not want to spend 2 grand on after market rims & tires at this point.

Anybody know who is making the 18 inch wheels for Ford? I can tell you its not Amcast or Alcoa!
Prime??

Keep in mind UPR is infamous for copying other people's products, not pioneering products for themselves. After you see the engine cover being R&D'd and released by XYZ company, a couple months later you'll see UPR start selling it for cheaper.
