I ordered 11/14 deleted IUP 11/29. Still had no vin so called dealer b4 xmas. Finally was told it was an allocation problem and that he would check into it and get back to me on Monday after the 1st. He called today and said they don't know when my car will get built. When I tried to ask about allocation problems or what was exactly holding up my car, he just said that Ford was really behind and swamped with orders and didn't know when I would get mine

That sounds like the BS I was getting from my original dealer. I went elsewhere.

I'd go somewhere else and order. Get what you want, not what some salesman wants. True, there's shortages at Ford, but it will get built eventually.

Each dealer gets a different allocation, if I'm not mistaken. Depends on the history of how many cars they sell.

Just talked to my salesman about my 12/30 order, and he said that his dealership has been allocated 2 GTs for February build, and he's pretty sure that mine can be one of the two. But I don't have a build date yet.

That is kind of strange. We have better than 20 Mustangs on order, almost all having IUP. I ordered a non IUP GT on 12/08/04 and they jumped right to the front of the line, passing up about 12 orders ahead of it. This car is being built the week of 01/10/05. With no IUP your turn around should be fair;y quick. Ford is not swamped with non IUP orders, they're begging for them.

If you can't wait then search for one on the lots. There is a loaded black GT w/ IUP at my dealer. It has been sitting there for at least a month. $29K something. I'm sure there are others out there just waiting to be taken home.

They problably just ran out of allocation, and are trying to place the blame on ford and away from them saying that they are not given enough.

So what you are saying is that it looks like all cars built after this week will be without IUP until Feb scheduling, unless previously scheduled. Right? Just curious.

BTW Allison ~ I would check with another dealer to see what they tell you. If you get a postive answer from one of them then yeah switch. If not I would call Ford Customer Service & just see if you can get a straight answer for them.

He's full it of it. It's an inventory shortage and is supposed to be cleared up by February.

I ordered on 11/17, called after reading here about IUP issues. My dealer says a subcontractor machinery issue. I gave up on the IUP and I really wanted that option. I found one stock (after searching the internet for 2 full days). I took a train and then drove 1,200 miles home!!

I ordered my GT with IUP back in November. As of today, when I checked the Ford automated order line, it is still scheduled to be built "the week of Jan. 3rd". I hope it gets built this week. All this talk about a hold on IUP cars is making me nervous.

I'm not sure if my 1K deposit is refundable if they don't get allocation.

BTW say if the dealer was alloted 4 for 2004 and those 4 are STILL on the lot, does that have anything to do with them not being able to get alloted more?

Paul Tell us how this allocation thing works like how many cars a dealer has to sell in a year to get what or is that how it works. It looks like loads or cars are going to Florida and none to northern states.
