New Billet Grille with Bent bars

So I just ordered a new black Shelby Billet grille from Partscheap, and the surround and the lower grill insert were perfect, but the main grill has some bent pieces (i.e. wavy). Send it back or bend em?

I'd prefer to just try and fix it, but I don't want to kill it in the process. Anyone have any experience with this? Is it particularly normal for Billet grilles to come like this? And if you'd suggest bending it, how to go about it?

Thanks for the help.

Send it back! You didn't pay for a bent grill, also any company worth their salt would want to know about the product they are selling, and they would replace it without a problem or second thought.

Definitely send it back. I've got a CDC billet grill and as solid as it is, I wouldn't try bending it...you'll probably just make it worse.

Dang. That's the exact grille and place I was going to buy... Hope mine doesn't come out that way!

They asked me to email pics of the damage, waiting to hear back after they get em.

I did some crude marking of some areas in MS Paint real quick, I know it's horrible. lol But just to mark out some of the more obvious areas it's wavy.
I ended up being real busy this week, so Partscheap hasn't been lagging in assisting me so far. Also, try and ignore my hugely dirty taillight, my baby
got a wash last evening and a wax today!

That's not too bad, but I'd definitely expect better.

Looks like it was welded in place that way. I'd send it back. I got a billet overlay from Stack racing that was bent on one bar on one end, but after the weld. So I could bend it back easy. This, because it looks like the bars weren't even when it was welded, I would say isn't worth trying to do yourself.

Update: I sent pics to Partscheap. It took a few days to get a response, so I emailed em asking if they got the pics or if I needed to resend em. They mailed back within a couple hours and said they're sending me a replacement, and that I can just send mine back when I get it.

So happy to deal with nice people.

That is exactly what they are supposed to do. Good for you!

Just thought I'd throw out an update.

Partscheap made a claim with Fedex for it showing up messed up. Not sure how that got through being that there's no possible way this is anyone's fault other than Shelby American, but anyway. They tell me they've filed a claim and that I'll have a replacement shortly and to be patient. I threw out a couple emails here and there while I was waiting asking for any progress. A couple times they answered, a couple times they didn't.

A MONTH goes by. Waiting impatiently, but I finally get an email from them saying things are still going through and that my grille is coming, but that they've had to wait because Shelby had to make more. Yesterday I finally get a call that my package has shown up. Yay!

And...it looks great. One little issue with a tip that's bent, but it's not the result of a weld, and was easy to fix. So thanks to Partscheap for making it right. Communication could have been better, but I got my part so I'm happy. Good thing I wasn't in a hurry.

When I finally dig up the cash to get my GT500 splitter, fog lights and get my CS front painted, I'll post pics. Can't wait to see it all together.

Sounds like we both had trouble. I believe we ordered around the same time and I just got mine in last week... But at least it's in now. My grille came in from the Shelby store pretty quickly, so no problem there. Then I was just waiting on the grille surround from north American tuning. It took weeks, so finally I emailed nat (north American tuning) and he said Shelby was backed up but he would push heavily to get it through. The next day he emailed me again saying it was on its way. The next day it was at my house (strange what happens when you email...). Anyways I finally get both pieces in after a few weeks and I start messing around with my car and I realize how easy it would be to install right then. So I have everything ready and I'm just tightening down the nuts on the bolts of the grille. They're all started and I start to tighten down the first one... The bolt breaks off like butter. Not very happy. And not to mention when I put the grille in the grille surround, it scratched the grille surround.
Anyways, I call the Shelby store the next day and get a hold of a guy named bill who I would become friends with haha. Anyways I tell him what happens and, surprisingly easily, he says yeah send it back and we'll get you a new one. So it takes a few days to figure out the FedEx situation. Whenever I have it shipped back I wait a week or two and still no grille. I call bill yet again and say hey where is it? He says it is in your town and delivery isssss today. So I was pretty happy. All during this time I had been trying to cover up the scratches in the grille surround. I used plasti dip and it filled it in pretty nicely. Now it's on my car (finally) and I love it. I need to buy the running pony emblem and I'm in the process of figuring out how to hide my fog lights.

Who would have ever thought getting a grille would be so hard??
