Never Let Someone Else Drive Your Stang!

I'm always letting people drive my car. For me, its part of the joy of owning it. If it gets wrecked, it gets wrecked. Its worth it to me to see the looks on their faces.

I'm sorry this happened to you, I hope the fix is perfect.

Does your friend who wrecked the car feel bad? Just curious about how involved in helping you she is. I let my wife drive our 2006 Mustang GT, and my dad also, but thats where I draw the line. I hope everything turns out good for you, and sorry to hear about your accident.

Yes she feels horrible about it. She first reported it to her insurance company but they said there is nothing that can be done...that the insurance follows the car not the driver, and that I was the one who had to submit the claim. So therefore I had to submit a claim through my company and will more than likely have my insurance premiums spike up. She paid the deductible but the amount my insurance is going to go up will be more than what that costs, I'm sure. Really stinks since my record before this has been squeeky clean, no tickets, accidents, claims or anything :bang:
Lol..I would never let anyone drive my car, other than my dad because he taught me how to drive and he's one hell of a driver. The exception to that rule would be if I take it to a mechanic, I know they drive it in there to get it places/etc. No issue with that.
My sister's husband really likes my car, and he kinda asked (in a joking tone) when I was going to let him drive it on the highway, and me and my dad came to the same thought at the same time lol. We didn't actually say no, but..that's pretty much a dead end road.
One of my friends wants to drive it too, she loves Mustangs. and I'm tempted to let her in an empty parking lot, but .. the thought alone makes me very uneasy.

I might have let someone else in 2005 when this thread was started, but not now.

Lol, 'just a car'.. xD lie of the century. :P
I rear ended a truck once - didn't actually hit it, but the tow hitch ball that they have in the back (which was practically invisible) made an imprint on my front bumper. It's fixed & spotless now, but at that moment it felt like my entire world got flipped upside down. I wasn't even worrying about the insurance or my parents, my own guilt did me in worse than anything else could have. xD

Back in 03 spent a few weeks in japan starting up a automated wheel line we built for Alcoa, one tech over there really went out of his way showing us around while we were there- a couple years ago, he came over here for a week, took him to the dragstrip...OK, hes used to tiny, fwd, 4 cyl, automatics, but he did great- except for a Laurel and Hardy looking staging the first time...end of the first run he turns down the pulloff road and takes his hands off the wheel shaking like a leaf, laughing so hard, says 'SO ESS CITING, SO ESS CITING" it was funny as heck
by the third run he was hitting 100, getting rubber in third with a Steve Mcqueen glint in his eye- it was great, I'm sure he'll be telling his grandkids about dragracing in a V8 Mustang over in the USA someday... that kinda stuff is just fun, was glad to give him the chance, and it was one of the most fun times I've had in the car, even if I was just a passenger. When my wife had her heart attack in 08, she couldnt drive for a few months, my Mom came back to help with our 7 month old, anyway, Mom had always wanted to go down the dragstrip, but shes so short, she couldnt reach the clutch in my car- the wife let her take hers, I said I'd give her a 2 second headstart...Mom had trouble staging too the first time, the poor guy at the track was flustered but very helpful- got her staged, the tree comes down, she takes off, I start counting'one thousand one, one thousand two' as the track guy looks at me and throws his arms up in the air like WTF now??? I take off and she still beat me by only .07 seconds! she said my son was yelling 'go grandma go' the whole way down the track, it was awesome...glad my wife let her try her car out. kinda a unusual family night out with grandma, but her and the kids (and I obviously) still talk about it
a buddy 'made' me take his 09 shelby gt500 for a spin...I dont like driving others cars ever, but thankful I got the chance...I had been wanting a blower so bad I couldnt stand it, but after driving the Shelby the want has waned a bit...was really expecting painful acceleration, but it really wasnt there till 3000 but by 4000 it was fast becoming a rocket...while I'd still love the power of the blower, I still miss that old bigblock feel of 4~500 ft/lb just off idle, and the blower just cant do that...gears, etc, yeah, but its loud 'gonna get ya in trouble' kinda power, I'd rather have 400 ft/lb @2000 (thats only 150 hp) even with a 4k rev limiter than a 500 hp fire breathing 6k rpm beast
I have let a few friends drive my car. I trust them completely and I'm usually in posession of their cars, which are worse much more than mine. Lol I trust who I allow to drive and know they are very good drivers. It is still a short list though...

,,and yes I'm talking about my car .
