Needed help

I had to buy a new cluster, because my old one was bad. I tried fixing the old one but it didn't work. I bought a new cluster, and the mileage is wrong of course. Where can I go to add the correct mileage to the new cluster so I can pass inspection. I went to a Ford dealership close by, and they try tell me some crap that they can fix it for me.

I don't think Ford is giving you any crap. They have the ability to correct or at least document mileage discrepancies. Many times a label is affixed to the driver's door panel to enable this documentation. It can not be removed legally.

Ugh, I just need the correct mileage added to the new cluster I got, because it is behind by 8,000 miles. So, my care won't even pass inspection.

The cluster has a module in it that I believe has to be programmed to your vehicle. That's why the dealer will fix it for you probably using their scanning equipment. There are usually private speedometer repair shops in larger cities that may be able to assist you as well. I'd think they might need your old cluster for transferring it's program.

There are internet web sites that offer instrument cluster repair as these clusters do have problems with the stepper motors sometimes. http://www.instrumentclusters.com/ here's one

I understand about laying out more money, especially for something like that. Not many choices unless you feel like a road trip to Alaska and back to make up for that 8,000 miles.

Try another dealer, but first put the old cluster back in, and don't say anything about using the other cluster. They will take the mileage off the old cluster and set the other one to it, they won't do that if you've putting miles on the car that don't show on your old cluster. You might call Tousley Ford, they're where I bought my replacement cluster, and see what they have to say. Good luck ...

+1, i think theres huge legailities for them if they know the odometer has ever been unhooked, let alone moved...changing one most likely requires some sort of affidavit or whatever they call it to prevent a 'odometer discrepancy' from being put on your title, or them getting in trouble for odometer tampering...

05GT4.6- whats wrong with your cluster? read a lot about motors going bad for the gages, they are readily available on ebay and saw youtube videos for replacing- and they have no effect on the mileage module... think they only cost like 20 bucks a set or something like that...
