need help catastrophic engine failure
more questions:
if the pressure is low, the phasers may not work right?
if the phaser is bad, wonder if it might be blowing oil pressure?
hopefully you just got a bad phaser and somehow its blowing oil pressure- if it were mine, thats what I'd be hoping for anyways...just hard to say if one problem is causing both symptoms, from the several posts Ive read about phasers failing, they seem to be a little less bulletproof than the rest of the engine.

Not all dealerships have great service depts.
Have you thought about having somebody else look at it before you shell out money?
Ford went back and increased the Powertrain/Engine warranty on the 06 and above Mustangs. They are now 5year/60000 miles on the Engine/Powertrain. This is without buying any extended warranty, so Ford should be covering the engine problem.
First, sorry about you position..engine failures suck.
2006 Ford Limited Warranty has no extended powetrain provision. 2007 was the first year to have an added powertrain coverage complimentary with vehicle purchase.
ESP PowertrainCare was available as a separate purchase. It must be transferred to the second owner (as you did, after reporting engine problem. Previous poster is correct with prexisting condition description. The ESP contract must be in the current owner's name at the time of failure to be in force. I am a 25 year vet on the Service Side with Ford Dealers-and this is a fact.) The dealer you purchased the vehicle from should have run the OASIS report to see what coverage, open campaigns were active on the vehicle. Shame on them for not doing this...perhaps they can be of assistance with financial aid. One would only hope.

Tiberius you are only partialy correct. Ford did include 06 Mustangs purchased in July or later in the new extended power train coverage. My 06 has a 5 /60 powertrain warranty and I did not purchase any extended warranty, I did purchase the car in July though.
as for the second openion the car is at its second dealership. i did find out that my car was purchased in july aswell and i found out the the 5/60k coverage was complementary to the original owner. what do i do now..
If it was purchased in July '06, then the factory warranty should be 5/60K for the powertrain. Do some more checking with the dealer, or another dealer if you think you are getting the run around.
ACCORDING TO THE OASIS REPORT WARRANTY START DATE IS 7-24-2006 BUT ALSO ON OASIS REPORT IS "OWNER OF VEHICLE MUST MATCH THAT ON OASIS FOR COVERAGE TO APPLY". IT DIDNT AT THE TIME PROBLEM WAS REPORTED BUT I DID TRANSFER THE WARRANTY SO NOW IT DOES.
I stand corrected, but it still must be transferred.
im getting the runaround everywhere i turn. i even talked to the general sales manager and i think her exact words were im sorry we have done all we can do... yeah right except stand by your product. stan by your customer with a legitimate complaint. im so pissed right now i cant see srtaight....
I would start hammering away at the warranty you purchased from the bank, the one that said they wouldn't pay because it was covered under another warranty. Well, evidently it is NOT covered under another warranty, so they have to pay out. That is your focus now, the warranty you purchased. Good luck!
If the Ford warranty started in July, then Ford should cover the cost. You do not have to transfer the warranty that comes with the car 5year/60,000 powertrain/engine. It transfers with the car. Even if the first owner bought an ESP. The ESP does not come into effect until the stock warranty will not cover the problem. I think the new date for the 06 started on July 1st? I would call Ford and find out the date. Then take that info to the dealership and see what they say then.
So to recap, and make sure I have this straight:
The car has a 5/60K factory warranty because of when it was purchased. This warranty does not need to be transferred, it goes with the car.
The previous owner also bought an ESP plan, and that warranty needs to be transferred when the car is sold.
You also bought a warranty from the bank when you bought the car.
If the first warranty, the factory warranty is still in effect, that will cover it. That is probably what the warranty company from the bank is trying to say, that it has factory warranty left...hence the reason they won't pay. Why your dealer is not noticing that it still has a factory warranty in effect is beyond me though.
