My dealer reccomends I do a 3,000 mile service. My car is still under 2,000 right now. My question is, Are these services expensive given that nothign is wrong and all that would be needed is an oil change?
what is everyones reccomendations?
I need to call them this afternoon to either reschedule or tell them I don't need it since I change my own oil anyway and ahve a good mechanic.

The only advantage I can think of would be to have them reflash to PCM to the latest rev... if you've been having any problems with misfiring or whatever, but other than that. they're just trying to generate revenue through services..... You're not going to void a warranty or anything like that if that's what you might be concerned about. They won't reflash anything just by you bringing it in, though.... you'd have to hound them to do that if there's no trouble found.
I wouldn't sweat it.

If you have a mechanic or prefer to do it yourself, thats what I'd suggest. I don't have a place to do it myself or a mechanic. I've always prefered to pay the premium to have it done at the dealership. Jiffy lube type places have a bad habit of not replacing the caps properly and sometimes get oil or other fluid all over the engine. Plus you generally get a free, albeit cruddy, car wash thrown in to boot.
Another good thing about doing it at the dealership is getting documentation incase of any future warenty issues or you want to maximize your resale value.
