Nanner Time
I can post now, because I have a story...and a car to go with it.
Like many, I was captivated by the styling of the new Mustang, and knew at first site that Oh yes, it would be mine. After using the Forddirect website to check inventories at a variety of dealers with a 300 mile radius, I decided to order mine from a local dealer (in the Washington suburbs).
Well, after 12 weeks, it arrived this week: a Silver v6 premium, with auto, IUP, leather/ICAP, TCS/ABS, and side airbags. Price: dealer invoice (for those keeping score, $22,114 or $1,900 below sticker).
I placed the order on Jan. 2, and was told to expect a 6-8 week delivery time. But I could never get them to send me confirmation of the order, and it got a bit exasperating. Maybe it was an allocation issue, or perhaps because of the IUP, they knew the allotments for the package were not yet available.
I even considered cancelling, but instead I called up later that month and changed my original black exterior choice to silver. Because the order hadn't yet been placed for whatever reason, that was no problem. Some consistent additional pressure finally yielded a VOC in mid-February, and after that, things moved quickly. I had a priority 10 code, so I went pretty quickly from C/U to scheduled to built and shipped in about 5 weeks time.
So the first chapter of the story has ended with the successful purchase and pickup of the new vehicle. In addition to the bananas, I drove home with some good omens: listening to WARW (classic rock station for the DC aficianados), the first 4 songs on the radio were Born to be Wild (steppenwolf), Start me up (Stones), Takin care of Business (BTO), and I want to fly away (Lenny Kravitz). All good choices for that fateful first tune on the new Shaker.
Pictures to follow once the sun makes an appearance.

In terms of the question about ordering, that's the big question: when did the dealer actually submit the order? I believe it wasn't till mid-Feb, which is when I received the VOC. Why it took from early Jan. to mid-Feb. for the order to be submitted...well, that was the source of considerable frustration.
I can assume it was because A) the IUP allocations were pretty low in Jan., and knowing that, the dealer simply decided to wait till there were more in the pipeline; and/or B) their Mustang allocation for Jan. was filled or because this was a low profit transaction for them, it wasn't the highest priority for the order to be placed.
While this was frustrating  , looking back I can be more philosophical because hopefully it means the Shaker 500 will work better, plus it allowed me to change the exterior color order, and let's face it, the difference of a month is not too great in the scheme of things.
In answer to another poster's questions, yes, I have the spinner wheels that come with the V6 premium.

Good for you! Enjoy the Satin Silver, it is a nice base for doing fun things with! Post some pics soon, but I think if I go to my garage I'll see pretty much the same thing
