Turbo kit is a Powerhouse Automotive Pipeline kit. www.powerhouse411.net
has a precision turbo pt67 with .81 housing I believe, tial 38mm wastegate with 9# spring installed, manual boost controller to turn it up to 11# all stainless tubing, 3" downpipe, KB BAP, 39# injectors. Tuned by Manny Alvarez at HPP Racing, 500rwhp/550rwtq at 11PSI.
As for the sound, it sounds different but good, quieter than most GTs and it's really quite the sleeper. I haven't had it to the strip since the retune but when it was making 415 hp it ran a 12.3@115 on 18 DRs.

MillerC, I'm curious to hear from you and other motorheads, - what say you about running 11psi boost on the 4.6 modular? Do you think it will shorten the engine life? Push temps up? Are you able to manage all the potential detonation issues with the tune and octane?

I believe that anytime you turbo, supercharge, or add nitrous to a motor you are probably shorting the life of the parts to some extent. It all depends on how you go about it IMO. I feel safe using 11PSI on my car because I don't do it all the time and when I do, I have high octane fuel in the car and a really good tune, all the other time I run around on a pump gas 9# tune that is very conservative and still make over 450rwhp/470rwtq and I feel comfortable with that. I do believe that turbos are easier on the motor than superchargers, and if you don't know what you're doing with nitrous you can get in trouble in a hurry.

They relocated the oil filter. Also looks like the turbo is close to the belts. Seems like that might be a lot of heat around there. I guess as long as egt's are monitored it wouldn't be a problem. I've heard of turbo housings getting red hot though.

Suprisingly there isn't that much higher under hood temps with this kit and the turbo looks closer to the front of the engine than it is. With this kit the radiator and fan are move forward making more than enough room. I haven't monitored IATs but from what others are saying with this kit the temps aren't more than 5 degrees higher than ambient temp. I will be upping the boost to 16+ as soon as I get a built motor and tranny.
