My version of 3M paint protectant....
...All 180 feet of it.
To celebrate my graduation and new alumni status, my girl and I are taking a day trip to San Diego for lunch and a walk in the gas lamp district.
My car is a DD but I want to keep it safe by using protection
I am also switching to my 87 tune tomorrow morning as well.
PS. for those that don't like the Blue Oval, don't worry, My "281 High Performance" emblem is in the mail.

The left side front and right side front wheel well protection systems aren't the same, you need to redo one or the other so they match. Also, you didn't completely cover the front stripe bit correctly. And your hood vs fender taping is not lined up.
/If you're gonna do it...
//Kinda digging the light blue front bit concept for 'permanent' status, actually.
///Not that I'd do it, though.

It's only for the day. I'm doing a complete detail on Monday.

Are you serious? Word of advise . . . . . by avoiding tailgating on the highway, and avoiding gravel trucks, the paint on the S197 will not chip much . . . ..

If it makes anyone feel any better, my tape idea went bad. It was all curled up and peeling off with the cool desert air of tonight. FAIL.
I guess now I can get some pictures of the car by the beach...

To some level... I'm a perfectionist so my car's paint sees the utmost care between how it's washed, detailed, etc. However, you don't need to be tailgating or following a gravel truck to get chips in the paint. 70 mph, stuff flies pretty far and pretty fast.

Good intentions gone bad...
Invest in the 3m stuff; or go with mudflaps and mask, that's what they're made for.

I will buy Jack Stands!!!
I really like the blue oval in the grille, and the 281 emblem would look sweet if the 281 part was blue too, black I fear will blend into the grille to much and you won't see it

That is not true IMO. My car has a ton of chips especially on the hood and has only 20,000 miles on it. It also doesn't see much interstate traffic. The tape will prevent a good amount of chips from happening but you could always use the Duplicolor chip guard stuff as an alternate temporary measure. Nothing will stop everything though. Step up to the real stuff eventually.
