My pony is hurt.. Two incidents in one week!!

What a week, wondering if someone's put a spell on me or i'm simply jinxed!

Thursday night, i'm headed over to a nearby hilton to see an old friend that's just landed in Dubai and is staying for a night.

i'm driving on a 2 lane straight stretch on the way there when a tourist in a Peaugot 307 emerges out from the right side without checking the road is clear.

i swirved to the left immediately, avoiding a really bad crash, but that didn't save me from taking a hit between the front right fender and the passenger door, which now can't be open anymore as it hits the fender..

needless to say i'm FUMING.. first my windsheild mysteriously cracks a 2" circle in the middle of it (http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?p=676874)
then this.. and it happens in one week

tomorrow is my body shop appointment, let's see how this goes :\

So what's the insurance situation with this incident? Was it an insured rental? Good luck

we both have full comprehensive insurance, and as it's his fault, his insurance should pay up.

I have an "Agency Repairs" policy, so my car is going to ford dealership body shop, and i hope they would just replace the fender and the door although i highly doubt that'll happen as it's rather minor.

it just bothers me that no matter how perfect the repairs go, it will never be good as new again

Louie, good luck getting her fixed. Glad your ok. Is the Mustang a popular car in Dubai? I've recently read in one of the car magazines an article where they drove a Porsche Cayenne SUV in Dubai testing it out. Do you find your Mustang gets alot of attention there? Hope you get your car back soon in great shape.

Dubai is full of exotic cars, and my Mustang fits the scene quite easily.

Mustangs have always been quite popular in here, although i don't recall spotting that many 05s last year.. now that i got my 06, i see other 05s and 06s on the road almost everyday!

What's great about it though is the overall spirit. i always get thumbs up from fellow mustang drivers and others too, just yesterday someone greeted me at the office's parking lot saying nice ride he was in an SLK 350

sure i do get plenty idiots in rice rockets giving me dirty looks and revving up next to me and driving like hotshots.. but all in all, it's all good

I hate to see these pics. I'd guess the insurance co will replace the fender and say the door can be repaired. Just a thought, but maybe you can pay the difference on the door and get it replaced too. Good luck.

i just got my car back from the dealership bodyshop.

they fixed the door, it looks perfect
they fixed the fender, it looks misrable, the dent still shows while looking at it from a narrow angle, not to mention it's misaligned by milimeters here and there
they forgot to paint the side skirt, which has some minor scuffs

they've given me an official letter promising to fix all the remarks again when i send the car in to fit the shelby CS6 hood i ordered.
then i'll definitely be pushing to have the fender replaced.

Glad you got it 'fixed'. If it doesnt look better after you bring it back, you'll have some problems to deal with.

Take it to a professional body shop, not those $199 ones, trust me, its worth it both on the outside and on the other side. Take it from 5.0&SF editors.

If you can drive in Boston (pronounced Bahston ) you can drive just about anywhere. Whatever street you drive on today, tomorrow there will be a detour! Oh yea and lets not forget about the 15billion dollar big dig that might get you killed driving through one of the new tunnels. Nothing like a 3 ton concrete roof panel falling on ya!

Boston is one town that I WOULD NOT drive in. Just riding the shuttle from the motel to the subway and airport will almost cause heart failure. Need to remember to always have something to read (like that's possible).

I've been working in Dubai since 1999, the last 2.5 years i'm working in a company based in Dubai Internet City, and now i'm about to start my own business there..

Dubai is just weird, it doesn't quite fit anywhere in the world, let alone being in the middle east (well the rich gulf region).
national emaraties form 21% of the overall population according to the 2006 census, while the rest is all expatriates from all over the world, you name a nationality, you find it here!.

for me, i'm just there to enjoy it while it lasts, till my next venture in life comes by.

I spent a few days in Dubai going back and forth to Iraq. The mall is awesome and the airport is HUGE. All I did was shop and drink. Alot of people speak english and they have alot of the same store and resteraunt chains we have here in the US. Great place to buy cheap electronics.

Sorry to hear of your incident...hope you can get it repaired soon and to your satisfaction...BTW, Dubai is not a bad place, I remember pulling liberty there back in '90/'91.

I remember seeing the "rich" kids tear up their brand new Range Rovers in the sand dunes... the British and the U.S. should have never given them the technology to get that oil...
