My Pony Is Gone
#22
Sorry to hear but, glad everyone is alive and mostly well. It's comforting to know our cars are very well engineered but, sad someone had to put them to the test in the real world. Keep us updated on your progress. As previously stated, I don't know how you don't see a screaming yellow car even at night.

I am relatively sure that was the speed that I was going when I was actually hit. The accident occured on an Interstate where the speed limit is 70mph. I was in the left lane keeping up with traffic. I know that I hit the brakes (I think I must have thought that I could be like Fred Flintstone and stop it with my foot, because the right foot is broken!!) because there are skid marks. However, when a car is in a skid and it hits grass, it will pick up speed. So, I am confident that we were close to that speed when we met up with the tree. Another contributing factor is that the tree bent over when we hit it which also dissapated some on the forward energy. I'll try to get some pictures posted so that you can see how the frame, motor mounts, and transmission actually worked. It is amazing. Oh yeah...Air bags really stink!
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers and I know that I am still here for a reason. I started this post because I am thankful and I wanted everyone to know how the engineering in the pony reacted in such a violent crash.
So...everyone...have a great holiday season and remember the reason for the season!

Donna, I'm sorry to hear about the stang, but glad to hear that you and the family are relatively ok. Things like this really make us think what we have to be thankful for this season. The other vehicles's occupants will be in my prayers as well.

Very glad to hear all is well with you Donna, Prayers out to the family in the SUV also. Hope their children are OK.
Once again a tip of the hat to the engineering boys at Ford! Wish we could let Mr.Thai-Tang know about this.

I'm glad you hear you guys are alright, that's what's most important. But it is great to hear that this car is safe..... you don't realize how important it is until something happens.
I wish you, your daughter and grandaughter a speedy recovery and again, I'm glad everyone is alright.

My prayers go out to you and yours, hopefully you will all make a good recovery. I feel your pain, I was just in an accident on 11/01/2005 and my car will probably be in the body shop till' mid December, like you however, I walked away with no bruises.
Good luck and hang in there.
