My MPG Home

Normally I get around 23-25 on highway (~70mph), but this trip was some what better. This time thanks to two Georgia State Troopers, I went a little closer to the speed limit (55-60). I drove 65 pretty much the whole way home. When I pulled up to the house the message center read 28.3 mpg. I thought that something was a little off, so I went to fill up and see exactly much gas I used to do the math. Well to my amasement, the message center was right. My dad's first comment when I told him was "thats what happens when you drive the speed limit." It's kind of unusual but I'd like to thank the troopers for slowing me down. Oh and by the way its a GT.

That's pretty good! I haven't had my GT on a road trip yet, but the best I ever got on my V6 auto was 28.

My 05 stock GT would get about 20-21 originally. The mileage got a little better with the Flowmasters - 22-23 - thats all mostly around town. I do drive 35 miles each way to work, about 28 of that is interstate, so maybe its not all entirely around town. Southern Stang - what part of GA? I'm in Camden County.

I got about 28 mpg on a trip back from the Oregon Coast under the same conditions (state troopers on the road) It's amazing how law enforcement officers can improve your gas mileage!

I have noticed that my gas milage tends to increase and my speed decreases the more my radar detector goes off.

5-10 MPH makes a huge difference on the highway. If you do 60 mph, you can probably get real close to 30 mpg....from 70 on you'll be under 25, as you said. I just experienced that a few weekends ago.

Yep, I went 182 miles last week on 6.3 gallons of Shell regular gas. I kept it at about 70 on cruise control slowing to 60-65 for traffic bunch-ups only. I just put on a set of Flowmaster Axlebacks and this was my first real trip on them. Avg. 28.6 mpg. w/air conditioner off.

My best road trip mileage was 25MPG going about 75MPH in cruise control with the a/c on. I wonder how much, if at all it would improve with a 6-speed transmission with an extra overdrive gear.

Just finished a 360 mile round trip to Palm Springs.
Average MPH on the trip out was 60 (lots of Chippys) and MPG was 26.5.
Trip back average MPH was 85 (early a.m. no traffic) and MPG was 23.0.

'Dang... I guess I really do need to slow down.

Naaaahhhh...

Hey, Guys......
I'm from Troup Co- West GA. I went to Columbia, SC in my GT and averaged 25 on highway cruising at 80 with air on. Haven't checked the city mileage yet.

I'm still under 1k miles on the 07, but so far I've been getting just under 23 mpg mixed (25% city/ 75% highway) driving. That's about 2 mpg less than I was getting on the 05 V6 auto. But the GT might catch up after it fully breaks in.
