My Carroll Shelby experience
My Carroll Shelby experience
Wow!!!! this guy is unbelieveable, for his age he is very spry and witty, it was great to spend some time with him on our own,we talked with him and his significant other for awhile. he signed my 2 diecast cars,3 hats and a picture of himself i've had hanging in my basement, the pix was the best, it said "thank's Mike your friend Carroll Shelby". which i thought was great as most all the time he just signs his name,I later found out maybe why he did this. His lady friend liked the mini sharpie i had that was able to be hung around your neck, of course i gave it to her thinking as i did, how retarded that must be. But to my amazement she and Carroll thought it was the greatest thing in the world. it was really great to meet another living legend and be recieved like a old long time friend. What a week i've had!!!!!!:thumbsup
I'm jealous.
As I said before, you are VERY lucky!
Well, that's one of my life goals. I sure hope he lasts long enough for me to meet him. There is a museum near me in Boulder with an incredible collection of original Cobras and GT40s. Carroll and most of the surviving team Cobra drivers go there every December for a banquet and sign autographs. It's $120 a person to get in, but I'll be there this year if he still is. If he sits in my car and signs the dash, that car will never be sold.

It's always neat to have the story behind the car, Jeff. Thanks. The museum is a near-religious experience when you think of the history of the cars. I was offended at first to see the Ferrari in there, until I read the placard and saw the picture of Carroll piloting that very car to a win in the late 50's. I really envy Coop's experience, though. Seeing the cars is one thing, but seeing the Man is another.
Looks like at least two crashed........
The bright spots were marred by the death of North Dakota pilot Gerald Beck, whose was killed when P-51 Mustang collided with another plane Friday on the north/south runway at Wittman Regional Airport.
