So here I was having a lousy day... plenty of stuff going wrong and left work STEAMED....

The car is filthy and has been for days - bugging the crap outta me - so after dealing with some BS I had to do right after work (which didn't help my mood at all either), I shoot over to my local pressure wash place (cause my apt development is and won't let you wash vehicles here....)

So I wash down the car and pull around to dry it off..... open the trunk and realize I left my Absorber in the garage..... LOVELY - black car, doesn't matter how fast I drive, I will have water spots.... well at least I got the dirt off..... so I am driving home and there is this nice road, three lanes going each way that leads me back to my place and I make the left turn at the light to get onto it - two bozos in their black Volkswagen are tailgating me so I slide over to the right hand lane to go around someone in the center lane and they go by in the fast lane - M&M wannabe with his sweat band looking out the window at the car..... keep driving bozo.....

SO I get to a light as it turns green and pull up next to this older steel or gray colored BMW four door with two guys in it. We're rolling forward and I had the Shaker blasting and can see this guy out of my peripheral vision looking at the car - and I think "oh great - another bozo" - so I glance over and this blond guy is turned in his seat full face out the window smiling like a nut giving me the hawaiian thumb and pinkie hang loose sign thingie..... so they catch up at the next light and I turn the music down and this guy is like "Bro that car is SMOKIN!!!!" and just going on and on about the DK II. So I thank him for the comments on my baby and he says, pointing to the guy driving "I had him turn us around just so I could get a look at that thing!"

Smiling like an idiot I thank him again, give it a little gas, slide left in front of them as I pass and give them a little Flowmaster music.....

Funny - that just made my evening.

3 similar stories:

- Was driving east on the long island expressway one morning a couple weeks ago, headed out to a deposition, so I'm in a suit driving the 'stang... lol. Anyway, couple guys pull up in the HOV lane to the left - I'm in the fast lane of the normal highway, so basically next lane over. Passenger is this guy in, like, late 20's, with crazy hair, hanging out the window giving me the double Haiwian thumb-finger thing. After they passed me, they slowed down so he could do it some more. I rewarded them with a loud accelleration.

- I'm in stop-n-go traffic on the BQE. A guy ahead of me and to the right sees the Stang in the mirror, sticks his arm out the window, and gives me the thumbs up. When I got a little closer, he turned around and stuck his head out the window to make sure I knew he was giving me the thumbs up (I knew ). My lane started to move, and as I passed him, I gave him two quick neutral revvs as a "thank you."

- I'm on the belt in relatively stop-n-go traffic, but cruising a little, maybe 20 mph. Older guy pulls up to me in a 70's something chevelle or something and is shouting at me out his window asking me questions, and I was shouting back answers through my passenger side window. Guess because we were talking, we kinda were going slower as traffic accellerated and people started to beep. After talking a bit more, I sped off. He was asking me how much I paid and kept saying, "beautiful, it's just beautiful, oh man."

Have tons more stories, but these were the 3 "on the road" stories that immediately came to mind... Fun car.

I had a long day at work today and as always, it all disappears as soon as I get in my car and turn the Shaker up. I drive down the street without a care in the world. I love it.

I came out of Starbucks and there was a whole family standing in front of my car getting their picture taken. I laughed all the way home, it was so funny.

Cool story, Dave. Funny how a compliment can break you out of a bad mood, isn't it?

Great story!

Mine has to be when I was cruising down a residential street with the windows down and passed a little girl, probably about 8 years old, riding her bike down the sidewalk in the opposite direction. She gave me a big thumbs up and said SWEET! That was just too cute, ya know her daddy is into cars, and it reminds me of being little and my dad in many ways teaching me how to drive and appreciate cars at a young age.

Dave, great story!

This car is therapeutic. Mine's not a daily driver and I when I get stressed I take it out after work and whatever stress I had just melts away.

This past weekend I was finishing up washing my car and this guy with his kids drives by and then pulls over a couple houses down. I thought he was just visiting that house but he reverses his car, backs all the way up to me and just starts flowing complements about my car.

It's also great when people pull up behind you at a light and you see their backseat passengers lean into the center to get a better view; especially when they are kids. I love making a kid's' day.
