My baby is at the dealer and I'm leaving in a little to see it. I can't drive her home since my uncle couldn't teach me stick last weekend and I won't learn on a brand new mustang. The thought of it being an auto over a stick enters my mind every other minute. After finding out that the car came in last night I rearranged all my school work to get it done over 1 1/2 days instead of 3.
I had the hardest time sleeping last night knowing that my car is on the other side of the city just sitting there. When I get back I'll try and post pics of her.

When I got my GT I didn't know how to drive manual. A friend came with me to get it and tought me how to drive it in about 2 hours. He said that it was actually and extremely easy manual to learn on.
I didn't have an problems am glad that I learned how to drive on it.

Go ahead and learn in the Mustang. It's a very easy manual to drive. The clutch is soft, the stick is mushy and very little low end torque. Very easy to learn that way.
Any Mustang before '05 is a different story though. I would never recomend learning on one of those. I learned in an '88 5.0 which had just the opposite of the characteristics I just mentioned.

Ive drivin stick 2 times in a parking lot. But im goin to get mine next month. I got the jist of it and plan to play around with it on the way home. If i were you id be goin nuts right now :dance:

You will not be sorry you got the manual.
It takes a bit getting used to.
Be patient. Don't be afraid of it and you will have it mastered in no time.
I concur as to the ease of use on the'05.

Just got back from the dealer, everyone there was interested to see who had it. Supposedly I was the first and only new Mustang they got this year. It'd feel pretty bad learning stick there on such a beautiful car on a lot with people that are also dying to get this car. I also found out that even if I knew stick it can't leave the lot till tomorrow because of my insurance company not getting the paper work done fast enough.
I'm not sure if people talked about it but the windows did come down a little bit when the door opened. Also, I noticed people before talked about the locking wheel caps where in a bag in the trunk, they were on all four tires so I hope other people will have it on theirs as well.
After sitting it for the first time it was well worth the wait (every time I was at an auto show I refused to sit in any other new Mustang aside from mine). My girlfriend has my camera so I can't take any pictures until Saturday when I get her. I was shocked to see that when I sat in the car it only had 2.7 miles and 0.8 gallons used. I reset both so now I'll now how much they put on it when I see her next time.

When I piccked up my '06 GT, the wheel locks were nowhere to be found
. They got me a kit from the parts department. I put them on myself the next day.
Good luck on learning the stick. Its a breeze really and it's true, the Stang is very forgiving. What are the specs of the car you ordered?

Thanx for the support everyone, I can't wait to learn stick and make her chirp. I plan on taking plenty of pics when I get her home. The specs I ordered are: Tungsten GT Prem. w/17" Bright Machined Wheels, ICAP/IUP, Anti-Theft, Side Air Bags, Wheel Locks, and Spoiler Delete.

You will be fine learning stick. It is quite easy. I taught myself on my husband's 86 mustang many 17 years ago but there is a huge difference with the new ones. The 05 stang is a lot "tighter" and it would be difficult to misshift.

Stick...there's no other way for me. Drive it and you'll see what I mean. I have had several stick cars and agree its easy to learn, especially in a V8 car. The low end torque makes it easier to not stall out, Just watch those accidental burn outs!! Although after you do your first one its addicting.
