Has anybody had and fuel gauge problems? When I filled up my car last week and got in and started it up and about 100 feet from the gas station the gas gauge went to empty and gave me an error message in the message center display. Stoped a few miles away for a few minutes got in and it worked fine. Then on Saturday my car went nuts again its full its empty, and so on. My check engine light came on then so my car is being serviced as I type this. Has anybody else has this issue if so what was the cause. When I left it was one of a few things the gauge in the cluster, the fuel pump, or the wires that conect them. All the same I just want my car back. Any information anybody may have on this would be helpful.

They will need to replace both fuel senders, 4R3Z-9275-AA + PS-168. They will be off back order 06/30/05.

Had the same problem as you, only it happened as I picked up the car from my dealer. He apologized as we drove it around to the service department. They reset the system and said they would order the parts. The next week they called and asked me to bring in the pony. I dropped the car off in the morning and they called that afternoon for me to pick her up. They apologized again for the problem. When I looked at the paperwork, they had replaced both sensors and installed the new model gas tank. In the 2 months since then I had not had any problems with the car.
Only problem now is the constant smile when driving!

I had this problem on mine. We replaced the fuel pump and sender assembly on the drivers side. Seems to have fixed the problem. The other sender is on backorder.

More info I recently picked up my car I was told it was high sulfer content in the fuel that was causing the sensors to malfunction. They place some cleaner in the tank to help burn the sulfter out of the gas and told me to go from there. From what I read in the Owners Manual that "bad" can cause that problem. If that doesn't solve the problem in a few tank fill ups then they will look at it again. Hope this works.
