I'm confused. Is it a race car only thing? Or is it going to be an option? What?

My dad uses a standard car. He could be considered disabled. He just desires not to be. He's kinda stubborn that way, which is really good, most cases. So he doesn't go for the wheelchair or hand controls, nope, just uses his braces and shifts his hips about. He's amazing.

What I wanna see is a car for blind people like my mom. That'd be cool. She is what's called "legally blind", but can see some. She drives in her sleep, of course. And she's really good, actually.

I had an SVO, which was a standard, and a Motorsport clutch, which we all know are plenty tough to deal with, right? Well, one day, I let her drive it up and down the street once, all by herself, with "left right" inputs from me in the passenger seat. She clutched the car better than anyone I've ever seen. So smooth, never hiccuped or stalled. All the way up and down, around the cuddle sack, and parked just so nicely.

Boy, the day new optic nerves are available, she'd be SO gone. That'd be an awesome day.

/edit: By "standard" car above for my dad, I meant, unmodified. He drives an automatic. Can't do the clutch. And he controls the shifting with the shifter...

Take a look at http://www.mobilitymotoringprogram.com/ - FORD Mobility Motoring Program. I think that you can get various assistance including credit towards a purchase of special equipment. Hope this helps.

I'd consider paddle shifter if it were an option.

Now after seeing the cool gadgets there, I think I'd like to get some for my 'bird... Although, I guess they're really not listed as such...

Put a throttle quadrant on the left door panel. Forward to accelerate, back to brake.

Put a steering stick on the console.

Pushbutton auto trans selector.

No pedals on the floor.

No steering wheel.

Drive by wire. That'd be way cool. Saw the steering yoke on a Saab tester one time on TV...
