The malarkey with my dealer today got me to thinking: What exactly is the level of quality in these cars. I realize that there is a S197 issues page, but here the sample size would be better.

Lemme know how your car is rolling. I have used time to sort of gauge the extent of the problem. Obviously, this depends as well on the quality of the service at your dealer. I was gonna try the "how many problems have you had?" but this could be not very informative because people call different things problems. Going to the dealership, however is a different matter.

EDIT: Sorry the "Small Fix, No cost" should say say "Small fix, no dealer required"

Mine simply needed one of the top latches replaced. Kept hitting the catch and split in two. No problems other than that.

Not a stellar record. I only have 300 miles on my 06 V6.

I was involved in a new car release for another Automaker. I must say the issues involved with the new Mustang are minimal. Considering its an all new vehicle, the quality is excellent.

I had struts poping, shaker skipping, and missing bolts.

Finally starting to get some good numbers on the vote. I wish the mods hadn't moved it as people who come to a "S197 issues page" probably have an issue with their stang or are looking it up. As it stands right now, just a little over a 3rd of respondents have reported no problems at all. ~60% have problems? Can't be. May as well be a Lada. I'd love it if we could get some better numbers on this topic.

Struts, Shaker, missing bolts, steering wheel off-center (after strut TSB performed), transmission rebuild (bad syncro pack). Car's been at the dealer for well over a week total in the past 6 months... in fact, it's there right now! The dealer's been great but it does get annoying having to bring it in all the time. It's my first new car and has been less reliable than I'd hoped. I still enjoy it but if wasn't warranteed, it would have been long gone by now.

Well, maybe not long gone...

Aside: anyone else notice that the Pirellis seem to flat-spot over night? Every morning when I get in, it takes a couple of miles on the road before the tires smooth out. Maybe it's just the extreme weight of the car crushing the poor tires when it's parked...

I've had TSBs performed on struts, fuel, and shaker. My dealer had her overnight.

Threw a CEL last week. Message Center displayed 'DTE FLI DATA ERR' and fuel gauge read empty. I had just filled her the day before. I drove directly to the dealer and after making an appointment, the error had cleared, but the CEL remained. It has since been cleared and has not returned. (Memo to self: Must get tuner!)

To make a long story short, it seems that topping up one's tank after the pump's initial shutoff, even a little, is a bad thing. :nono:

I just had the "DTE FLI DATA ERR" happen to me also. It happened once last night and went right away with no CEL. Then today it happened and the CEL came on and stayed on. The tank is 3/4 full, gas cap is tight, the only thing I can think it's connected to is the PIE adapter. I decided to remove the PIE adapter and will see if the error comes back. I still need to remove the CEL, though.

I think you'll find here and in general, people who notice a topic about "Problems" are more inclined to click on it if they have had problems than those who didn't. So the results will be skewed.

No Problems here!
