Today's (2/11/05) Phila Inquirer had an article written by Akweli Parker:
It's Ford over Porche at the auto show
Ford's $27,000 redesigned Mustang convertible beat out the $440,000 Porsche Carrera GT for the title of "most popular vehicle" with attendees of this week's Philadelphia International Auto Show, according to early exit-survey results released by the Automoblile Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia and market research firm AnaBus Inc., Jenkintown. As of Wednesady, 85,000 people had attended the show, which ends Sunday. That compares with 90,000 at midweek in 2004, a record setting year, and one in which the Eagles were not in the Super Bowl. ---end of article
Edit> The above article refers to a Legend Lime V6

I don't think it was the issue of being a 6. It was the interest of the overall styling of the car and it was a car that we can all afford an own. Not something we would have to win the lottery to afford.

Yeah I believe people judged their opinion on the looks & were dazzled by it. I wanted to clarify it was a V6 to jibe with the $27,000 tag. When I bought my '94 Firebird new I had a Carrera pull up next to me saying how great my car looked. Even had Stangs & Vettes do the same. I wasn't a hotshot about it. I actually was humbled & appreciated them doing that. These Stangs are beautiful V6 or GT.

That just shows
how the people of Philly,
when faced with a choice,
can sometimes be silly.
As W.C. Fields used to say, though,
"On the whole, I'd rather be in Philadelphia".
How cheesy.

That's what drew me to the '05 - Affordable performance ....plus unique styling - our cars don't have that upside down bathtub look that most modern vehicles now-a-days have.
If I ever did hit the lottery, I wouldn't buy another coupe - I already have the sports coupe of my dreams...though I'd mod the heck out of it

So you are saying that a Mustang, and a V6 no less (no offense to V6 owners), beat out a 440,000 bones vehicle and it wasn't even against the '05 Mustang's most powerful car? Wow. That's all I can say.![04](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/04.gif)

The point is that even though we can't afford certain cars, we love to be able to get close to one that has a price tag of the Porsche. I wasn't saying that in the sense of the Mustang being better, DiamondBlue. I guess assuming does that sometimes.

Whenever I go to new car shows. (like I did today) Yeah I'll look at the Porsche, Jags and so forth. I might spend about 25% of my time amongst all those makes if that.
I spend my time at cars that I know are either currently affordable or could be affordable in my employment future without hitting Powerball.
Why spend alot of time drooling over something you'll probably never have. Better educate yourself on something you realistically could have.
