Arrow Mustang GT 500 beaten by an electric car on Top Gear!

Well if you guys missed it, last night's season finale of Top Gear featured a GT 500 losing to a pimped out electric car. It is fun to watch what they did with that thing. For those who aren't familliar with the show (in my opinion the best car show on TV), the presenters are anything but green. This was in no way an attempt to show that the future is electric.

Check it out on good ol' YouTube:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-AYlWApVmFs

The relavent section starts at around 3:00 mins into the video.

What makes you think its not a GT 500? *Looks like one, sounds like one, and they specifically mention that it is a GT 500.

Edit: Ok they don't say GT 500, they say "500 horse power Mustang". I still think its a GT 500, but it could be a conversion tribute GT. Either way, its still 500 ponies.

Its not, it might be a 500 hp Mustang, but its not a GT500, if it was, those 17" wheels wouldn't fit, along with a slew of other differences. It was a cool clip, especially the tunnel drive with the Aston, awesome.

OK.. I'm an idiot... It does say Shelby and the wheels are small . Anyone know how I can edit the title, so that its doesn't remain an enternal testament to my stupidity.

I'm not sure when it was, but a while ago Jeremy Clark was giving his opinion of a GT while he was actually testing out a V6 vert. Not sure if anyone else caught that episode.

Yes, that happened in 8th season, and in typical Clarkson fashion he refused to apologise. If memory serves correctly he raced a V6 against an actual horse and said that the V6 has 300 horses.

It's a 325bhp Shelby GT.

Top Gear are idiots when it comes to the Mustang. Richard Hammond should know better as he owns a 67 Fastback.

Richard is the one that wrote "Not Quite" on the side of the GT500 after it dyno'd less than 500 rwhp on a chassis dyno.

He's also the one that assumed his GT390 had 390 rwhp as well.

Top Gear is more entertainment than factual information. Fifth Gear gets a bit more serious because they have more serious racers as presenters (Vicki Butler-Henderson, Jason Plato, and Tiff Needell).

It was not in the 8th season, nor was it even on a Top Gear episode. It was on Jeremy's DVD, "Jeremy Clarkson: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly".

It was a whole DVD of him driving American cars, mostly at the Streets of Willow, and making comparisons with European cars. Great DVD, I have a copy.

Oh, and the Shelby GT in that video has the 18" Bullitts, not 17's.

This is why this show is terrible. Euro based people with Euro bias. They will bash anything american 99% of the time. They also never get their facts straight with american cars.

They bash plenty of Euro cars too. The bashing is mostly tongue-in-cheek. They weren't hesitent to praise the C6Z06, and mentioned that it beat the F430 and Pagani Zonda around thier track.

I enjoy Top Gear because they're not afraid to hold anything back. They praised the C6 as America's best sports car, the essential "American Porsche 911" but also commented on how cheezy the plastic interior was and referred to it as the typical American vinyl rubbish or something to that extent. Our family has owned Fords for the past 30 years and I will agree 110% - American cars have the cheapest and flimsiest interiors but they have steadily improved since the 70s. I also enjoy how they bash our live-axle rear suspensions and joke about the leaf-spring used for the C6's rear suspension.

I personally can't stand Richard Hammond. There are times he gets stuff right but there are so many times he gets stuff wrong. Plus he looks like Gordon Elliot and he annoyed me when I was a kid so that probably has something to do with it to. LOL
