Wow...that car is completely flattened. It looks like the wheels are missing.

This statement struck me as very odd..

Some nearby residents say they are trapped in their homes because their cars are locked inside garages with electrically-powered doors.
Every garage door I've ever owned has a release to disengage the door from the opener allowing it to work manually.

Luckily the pole was the only thing hurt

Yes, but if your garage does not have another way to get into it other than the garage door, you cannot reach that release. This happens after power loss after hurricanes. People need to get to their generators, which are locked in their garage, which has no power and no other door...

That's a stupid way to make a garage. Remind me not to hire that architect.

And why not? The bulk of the article is about no power to homes.

Yeah, I concur, but not to us on this board. We are interested in the car against the power pole in the background. I have a driver's side view of the car, but don't know how to post the jpg file here

Any image that's better than this one would be great.

Think he's either dead or retired by now. It's much more common in older homes which weren't designed with an interior entry to an attached garaged in mind. Or power garage door openers.

Thats odd, it's smushed but there is almost no damage, that is visisble, where it appeared to have hit the pole?

I think the brunt of the damage is on the passenger side. If you look at the first pic the passenger side is literally caved in from the impact.

Wrong. I love my fellow man, but that guy is a donkey named jack. I don't wish bad things on people generally, but I don't feel bad saying that guy should have died. You drink, don't drive. Simple as that. Too many people in this world without family members anymore because of idiots like that.

If anyone doesn't agree with me, then don't argue back until someone in your family has been killed by a drunk driver, then you can bash me all you want.
