As you can see on this forum orders in Nov and Oct and Dec. still c/u. I still think that if you ordered in mid Jan. you will wait 4-6 mo. On BON they said Ford in back oredered 65,000 units

Sounds fishy to me.
Sounds like more dealer BS.
I can understand a wait, but thats a LONG wait.

Hey...I am on your side. I hope to God they are out in March. I am just repeating what my dealer told me.......which may have been my first mistake.

I think what were going to see is the same thing that happened with the first IUP shortage when the GT's got the IUP and next to none were built for the V6 ,now that the convertible is out and with a IUP shortage the verts will get it then a few GT's and even less for the V6's so if you order now for a GT it's going to be a long wait

Pure speculation and input from one dealer, who we don't have any experience with. I won't believe ANY of this until Karpro chimes in.

Now with that said, Karpro, I'm really looking for you to squash this story and tell us that Ford added 6,000 workers to the Mustang line, and I can expect my car by the end of February.

If you want to be optimistic, Brad did post that sticky http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=14240
that said Ford is addressing the IUP situation by installing the equipment needed for more capacity, so hopefully the IUP shortage is only temporary. B)

THis is where Ford made their big mistake. They estimated 20% of customers would want the IUP. That number is at 80%! Oops! :bang:

First off we all know there is a small backlog of orders. The problem is commodities not build capacity. Our Ford rep called this week and said if we would place an order for a V6 vert with no IUP she could get it scheduled for a Feb. build date. Since the 5 verts we have sold are all IUP's we decided to pass for now (if anyone wants a non IUP, V6 let me know I might be able to turn one around quickly).

The problem is they are getting to many orders for certain combinations (GT, IUP) and it's throwing things way outta whack. I know everyone says "how didn't they see this coming?", but honestly I don't think they could. They have a long sales history with this car and they have historically sold many more V6's than GT's and probably still will in the long run. Unfortunately right now the enthusiast community is ordering GT's at a much faster pace than the "casual" consumer who will be primarily V6 buyers. The IUP demand should have been seen but long term the V6 will be the bigger volume car.

I know they wait stinks and I can only imagine how much aggrevation it is causing you folks but the cars will come. Heck I can only guess how much income I've lost having to tell someone who is ready to buy a car today that I can't deliver them one for 2-4 months and they give up and go buy something else.

Hang in there, it'll be worth it.
