Just read this in the current issue of Popular Hot Rodding. Note the last sentence:
"Ignition is now coil-on-plug, like most engines these days. (We thought the old Mustang's EDIS quad coil packs looked silly strapped to the front of the engine with all those wires running everywhere.) Now the 4.6 looks like a real engine, not the bride of Frankenstein. The new coils sit right on top of deep recess spark plugs with no plug wires in evidence anywhere. The new engine looks so good, Ford has decided to drop the intake manifold beauty cover seen in earlier pre-production media photos. We kind of liked it, but Ford says it will be available as a dealer-installed option."
Oh, and they love the new Stang, by the way!

Yeah, I spoke with Santa yesterday and he said Ford told him he wouldn't receive his allocation in time to give to all of us by the 25th....Guess if Ford is making him wait then I have to deal with it too....I mean, who has more buying power then the fat guy in the red suit? Sure will be nice when they are available! Be nice to hear a price figure....

I guess it does come down to price. It will look nice with the MMR racing intake kit, then again, the manifold cover looks great even on its own. If FORD sells it for less than $100.00 sure I will get it, even though I think it should be included.
I had recently filled out my customer survey and one thing they asked was "Were you satisfied with the condition of the vehicle". I told them that I was very upset at the fact that FORD handed out a 2 page flyer showing the GT with the 18" Chrome rims and the manifold cover and that is when I placed my order. During the order process I was informed that the RIMS were no longer available. The dealer was not aware that the manifold cover was not available. I basically stated that my next FORD purchase may not be as swift as this one was.
Sure, it may mean squat to them but at least I got it off my chest.

I too hope that the intake cover is a reasonably priced dealer assessory. I guess we will find out soon enough.
In saying that I have to admit to all that this engine does look real good even without the cover. I was a little upset, while waiting for the car, to hear that the intake cover was axed. Once I looked under that hood and saw that baby it just looked sweet. If the price is right I may get the cover, if not I will not be hurt.
