I had 4.10 gears installed with an Auto Tranny. I just also have a compuer flash (SCT Xcalibrator):

- at 65 MPH with 2200 RPM @ 24.5 MPG
- at 80 MPH with 2200 RPM @ 21.5 MPG
- in town about 16.5 MPG

All semi agressive drving style - more so in town with about 1200 miles on the Stang.
Tell us more about the gears & flash. Maybe you want to start a new thread if you haven't already.

I was looking at this link below earlier and noticed that a couple of the people that posted there stated that, the Pirelli P Zero Neros, reduced there gas mileage. Could this be another possible cause for such low MPG.

On a clsed track I ran from 200 miles on my ODO to 700 miles when I stopped, at 80 MPH got 20.1 MPG. Should improve greatly at 1,000-1,200 miles.

Averaging 20 mpg. Mix of freeway but mostly rural/city. Not extremely heavy footed but do get on it frequently through 1st and 2nd for the "rumble" (manual transmission) - no tire spinning.

We just took a trip 1100 miles one way. The car had 1700 when we left. Cruize control set at 80-85mph 60% of the time. On the way up, never got over 20 avg. MPG. Upon destination had the oil changed (2800) miles. Upon return, cruize control 80 mph, car just reached 21 avg. MPG. I was waiting for that 25 mpg, but no way. I now have about 4090 miles on her. City driving has been around 19 avg. mpg now.

Only third fill-up. First two were back country/city driving and got 17.3 each time. This last had a 50/50 mix of freeway and city and, since I let everyone at work drive it, a bunch of flooring it. Got 19.7. I have the Pirellis btw. With only 550 miles on it, I'm quite happy. Oh, first fill up was with 1/4 tank left, 2nd was 3/4 tank left(needed a reason to drive it that night), and third was 12.5 gallons. My Avg MPG meter thingy has been dead on each time. Hope this helps.

OK techies out there---why the broad disparity---we've got GTs getting 11-14 all the way up to 20 in the city.

Are some engines tuned "better" from the factory than others? No one seems to be "baby-ing" there new ride, although some are probably pushing it harder than others.

1-2 mpg difference maybe; but 9 mpgs---that's a rather broad range. How to explain it??

My 11-13 is pretty slow driving. No real long cruising. Downshifts and pressing on the gas.

But still, 11-14 ?? If you rag it you should do better than that.

And you know the guys getting upwards of 20+ are not babying theirs....

I ran it close to empty on the 1st tank and filled it w/ 14.6 gallons -I'm figuring 15-16 gallons
I pulled into the gas station with the car saying "1 mile to E"
Put 15 Gallons in it.

Filling it gives me 289 miles to E.

Averaging 17.3-17.5mpg.

Mountain driving to and from work.

No long trips or freeway drriving.

I have about 750 miles on my GT auto trans. Drove 60 miles to my sister's house this past weekend and babied it to see how good it could get. Hills and valleys on secondary highways. Not too many stoplights. Mostly 55-65 MPH. Maxed the average on the computer at 26.5. After that I relaxed a little and pulled into the driveway with the computer reading 26.0 MPG. On the way home I drove a little more normally and it dropped down to about 23.5. After two days of my 20 mile commute, it's down to 22.0. So it is possible to keep it high. But that's not why I bought the car. I just wanted to prove that it could come close to the 26.3 I was getting with my Sebring. BTW, sticker mileage on the auto is 23 highway. But I think my leadfoot would kick in with the manual trans. Got to supress those demons.

20.3 mpg average on the first tank, maybe I'm driving a lot more conservatively since I'm older, but for a big 300 hp V8 I'm way pleased with this, about 60 percent city and 40 percent highway.

I am getting 18 avg for city/hgwy driving in a manual GT... To me that is great gas mileage. My 79 Bronco with a 7.5L/4spd and holley pro-jection system gets 8mpg
