I just got promoted at work and will be getting a very nice raise so I was going to sell off my 2005 Redfire GT and pick up a Shelby GT500 . I would like to sell it now before the Shelby come's out because I want to get rid of some credit card balances so when I get the Shelby I won't have anything to worry about. I bought my GT back on Nov.15 and have put less that 5,000 miles on it. Check my sig to see all the mod's I have on it at this time. I was hoping somebody could give me some advice on How to go about selling it since I still have a loan out for the GT. If anybody can lend me some help I would be very grateful. Either PM me or feel free to post away. :worship:

P.S. I am going to try to get the Shelby from the same dealer I got my GT from since I have a close friend who work's there.

Feel free to move this post if it is in the wrong spot!

Just a thought but you might want to ensure you'll be able to get one before selling your GT. I think it may be harder than you realize. Good luck!

I think it's going to be very hard for the average person to get a Shelby for the first year.

Yes, it will be quite hard to get a GT500. And, down the line, in the next few years, there will be other Mustang editions, and possibly a less expensive Cobra version as well.

Congratulations on your promotion, but as others have said, you should definately investigate the availability of a Cobra at anything close to a reasonable price before getting rid of your GT, especially if you're happy with it.

I don't think a gallon of K-Y would make the dealer upcharge on a GT500 bearable.

Pay off the credit card balances with your new found $$$. Then pay off the GT. See what happens when the cobra's come out and the decide if you really wanna take another hit on your wallet getting into the cobra then.

Dude,

I would hold on to your GT, maybe add a blower or something if you want some more zoom. From what I have heard from various dealers, waiting lists are 10 to 20 plus and the average markup will be 10,000 to 20,000 over MSRP around 45,000. So before you go and get rid of a nice ride, make sure you do your research and get something in writing saying you can be assured one. You may pay 55 or 60 for it, but it will be a nice ride.

If there's a 10-20K mark up on the Shelby that'll be bad. The Thunderbird had issues selling due to the markups that were being up on them. Though I doubt the Shelby will have much of an issue selling cause lots folks (including myself) know the name and would die/kill/love to have the car.

Was just reading 5.0 mag today at the Dentist and the Letter from the Editor says that all the Shelby's already have despoists on them.

You may want to talk to your buddy and find out if they are even going to be avaialble, or if they are all already spoken for.

I talked to my friend and he say's they only have one spoken for and the are supposed to be getting two. But he has no idea on price but say's that a lot of dealership's will be adding a large mark up (10-15 grand  :bang: ). I really like the GT I have now and have foud alot of part's to make this Mustang my own (burke0011 you know what I mean)so I am going to keep it and just mod a little bit at a time. I thank each and everyone who responded with all the great comment's and help and it just show's what a great site we have going. :worship:

Congrads on the promotion!

I would pay off some credit cards, pay down or off the GT, and get a Saleen Series VI supercharger, and you'll have 430hp at 10-20K dollars less then a Shelby.

At least that's what I'm going to do, pay off some credit cards, save up the cash, and buy the Saleen. By that time, my warranty will be over half over anyway.

I've been on a list since last Jan, 1k deposit goes towards the 5k over MSRP <39.5K>. Refundable till order is sent. Exspecting order to be made in later part of the first quarter of 06, take delivery in summer of 06. And yes it is all in writing. I exspect to bargain the 5k down. But if not o-well, i'll have a sweet car for sure.
