I hate the crubs around town! Even if I take it slow I still usually scrape! The design was just a bad idea- its hard to explain but here goes- the road is the highest point, if you turn off there's a big curb and then the road just drops down a steep drive to wherever it is your going. Its like that the whole way down the main drag.

My rocker panels are taking a beating along with the metal lip right behind them, which is now slight bent in some areas. :bang: If you look under your car you'll know the part I'm talking about. Luckily its completely hidden unless you were to crawl underneath her... it just really annoys me... and that noise just makes me cringe. Forget lowering this thing... I couldn't even imagine, I thought it was too high in the first place.

No real serious damage but its there and I know its there...

Sorry just had to vent. Any tips (not to be confused with sarcastic remarks or common sense) would be most welcome.

It helps to take speed bumps, steep driveways, etc. at a slight angle. It provides more clearance. I'm not sure what to tell you about curbs, other than being careful.

I've never hit one while pulling out of a parking spot nor have I pulling into one, its when I cross over them to pull into a drive. Like I said, they're very steep around here, and I suppose the city deemed that they did not need to get rid of the curb where a driveway meets the road.

Just a bad streak of luck on my part I guess. Just though I'd share my annoyance with the bloody things...

Got new wheels and tires coming soon, maybe they'll give me that extra inch I could use.

As suggested, take them at an angle.

I know the feeling when you scrape

Of course mine car is lowered about an inch and a half, I don't live in South Carolina nor do I know about the curbs over there but I manage to get over them, but only at a steep angle and at a crawl as stated above.

Def worst sound in the world. I scrapped my '01 Coup along the rims, and those things rip like butter when you rub them against a curb. I did it kinda in my '05 a little when some dumb ***** would move out of the middle of the road, so I drove around here and got a little to close to the curb(but not much damage to the outside of the rim

Our cars are not that low, what would a Vette do? That area of the rock does not sound like a great place to live in. I would not hang around there very long if I had a choice.

Or else I'd have an old 4X4 for going into Town.

I don't have any pictures, (needless to say, I try to avoid going such places now)- I could take some of my driveway to give you an idea?- the curb is still there but not a problem compared to other places. I definitely would not want a chin spoiler around here either, but I'm sure there's some angle or something you could take it at, I just haven't found it yet

Any thoughts on how to avoid scraping the bottom of the front bumper when parking. I had my Pony less than an hour and scrapped the bottom of the front bumper...over on the left corner, pulling into a parking space. Silly me, should have used the ones that were not next to a curb. I know the front of the Mustang is a bit longer than usual, but just wondered if any of you had a solution....other than pulling slowly into a parking space. Thanks
Cheers,
LLMustangGT

THat's a big 10-4....... Whoever the city planners are, they need to realize that not everybody drives Trucks & SUV's. Geez Louise, what's the world coming to anyway?

Back into the parking space!!! Never fails. Also leaves for a quick escape.
