I just called a bunch of dealers in the Chicago suburbs including the largest in IL, and although forddirect.com shows them as having a few 05s, none of them have them yet. Most also said it could be a few weeks before they see them. This stinks because I really wanted to be able to at least see one in person as it seems a lot are already being delivered on the coasts. Also, because they are available later in the area, the dealers will be price-gouging for longer into the winter. Has anyone seen any dealers in stock in the midwest?

I think Ford forgot where Illinois is including downstate. Mine was to arrive last week. I'm now convinced that is buried in the shipping lot. To pass the time, I printed out the Owner's Manual so I can become more educated about the features of the car.

I drive by Fair Oaks Ford in Naperville every night on my way home just waiting to see the first 05. They are scheduled to get two GT's and my dealer in Plainfield is scheduled to get one. It is interesting that Ford will show these cars in the dealers inventory before they actually arrive at the dealership.

Shame...
We're a heck of a lot closer than california, or florida, or texas or tennessee, or new york, or....
darn detroit... :bang: I'd like to just sit in one and feel where everything hits, would it be comfortable to drive, etc...

I ordered on june 15th and it was built in early sept, my dealer said it was on hold!
If you recall on this site there was a post about ford holding 5000 cars for quality control, I think thats probably the early orders, although i also called dealers here in chicago and NO CARS!

Just did a quick search, there are a few available according to Fords website in the suburbs. Most seem to be auto though. I am going to see if I can get test drive one on Friday and hopefully place an order.

Same deal down in Southern IL. Ford direct shows inventory for several local dealers here, but none have actually arrived yet. They all say it'll be a couple of weeks yet before they come in.
My dealer is telling me December for mine, but I'm doubtful since I just ordered in Sept.
GREAT site BTW! Thanks for all the great info and updates.

Just saw on my drive home yestereday that Mangold Fold in Eureka, Illinois (on Route 24 between Peoria and El Paso), has a red GT -- don't ask me to specify which one, I was trying to drive. Now the Search Inventory feature has shown for a week that they had a yellow GT but I have yet to see it. And the site shows that there are some that when you call are not there.
I just got a call this morning that mine is in WOOO WHOOOOO!!! Picking it up tomorrow afternoon. Purchase it from Mooney Ford in Charleston. Now mind you, they talked to Ford yesterday and were told that mine wouldn't be here until October 30, when they told the dealership it would be in the week of October 11. I think it is a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing.
My point is this, I've been told the Search Inventory only shows non-presold cars and I've been told that it includes all the cars. I never could get a straight answer from Ford. The Dealership has been great though. I've come to the conclusion that there is no rhyme or reason to how they deliver these cars. There are people who ordered late and got their car before I did. I speculate that it is how they park them in the pick-up lot. I imagine that they just park the cars in the lot starting at the back of the lot instead of using FIFO (first in the lot, first out of the lot). I think any of us here on this website could have done a better job at organizing these cars to go out!! But, I'm just happy to finally be getting mine. If I see any others, I'll be sure to keep you updated!

I know the dealers by me have a few, in Frankfort IL. they have a mineral gray V6, and I heard they had a Legend Lime out front as well. At Matteson Auto Mall I saw a Black V6, Mineral Gray V6 and a Sonic Blue GT. Over in Orland they had a black one in the show room I think it was a GT didn't get a good look though.
