MGW shifter installed

I know there's a million posts about this already, but I had my new MGW shifter installed on Friday and figured I would post my thoughts so far.

I didn't like the stock shifter because it felt kind of sloppy and the 1-2 shift just felt really off to me, I could rarely ever get it to be smooth. I have to say the MGW was not what I was expecting. I had read that it was extremely smooth, so I was surprised to find how notchy it was when I first tested it. I didn't like it right off the bat, but now I think it feels great. It's extremely tight and precise. Very mechanical and solid. No more slop at all. Reminds me of what a race car would shift like.

I still feel that the 1-2 shift is not quite as smooth as every other shift, but that could just be driver error. Not like the shift feels bad or anything, but I just can't seem to find a smooth shift point for 1-2 compared to every other shift. I have mine set to the stock setting (5 turns) and it feels pretty good. Definitely harder to put into gear compared to stock, but it feels really solid and I got used to it pretty quick. Had my transmission fluid changed to Pennzoil Syncromesh while I was at the shop, too.

Also, the guys who installed it (www.hgmotorsports.com) work on a ton of high end performance and exotic cars and they were really impressed with the quality of the MGW, so that says a lot about the product.

try adjusting some throw out of it. It will reduce the notchiness

Actually, I like everything about the shifter now. I think I just had to break it in a little bit.
