Will, your wheels are HOT!

here's an update of my ride. new sneakers and treads. just finished putting them on about an hour ago. sorry for the poor pic.

softbatch. i'm not rubbing on anything. i had foose nitrous wheels w/ 285s out back and i knew there was a ton of space on the inside.

here are the offsets:
+37mm front and +46mm rear

both sides are about 1/4" inside of the rear fender lips on flat ground. when i park on a slant down towards the left, driver's side, the left tire sticks out a smidgeon. so very slightly. that makes me think i need an adjustable panhard rod.

but again, on flat ground, both sides seem to be dead even. haven't broken out the dial calipers to confirm this tough. :-P

i haven't parked on ground slanting towards the passenger's side yet. i'd imagine the right tire will then poke out just a wee bit.

with the weld forgestar's 55mm offset, a 315mm rear tire would go on no problem, if they made one. hah.

i have a 275/30-20Frt tire on. saweet. i love the handling with these 20s on. i drove 1,000miles on the stock tires. they suck the big weenie. i'm a cornering kinda guy. i couldn't be happier w/ my setup.

i'm running eibach sportline springs. my 305/25-20 contis are 1" shorter than the stockers.

btw, i rode 1,000miles on the stock tires w/ the sportline springs. i put my sportlines on the day i got the car. the ride quality did not degrade in a major way as one would think. the firming up of my ride was due to the springs. the 20" tires over the 17s did not harden the ride up much IMO.

i was fretting how the ride would be with the 20s. my fears were all unfounded.

btw, stock bullits and tires were 51LB per corner. the Axis GT-R 9.5" fronts w/ 275/30-20s were 54Lb. and the rear 10.5" with 305/25s were 59Lb each.

my foose nitrouses felt like 10 to 15Lbs heavier than the axis GT-Rs and they were shod w/ BFG KDW 2 255s and 285s.

w/o a 46mm offset on my rear, the 305s would most certainly stick out. as it turns out, my setup is just about perfect as can be i feel. having the foose nitrous 10" rear w/ a 39mm offset and seing how they sat w/ the 285s gave me the confidence in going 305s on this axis wheel.

i thought i got a lot of stares before w/ stock bullits and tires. w/ these axis GT-Rs, guys at crosswalks stare blankly, slack-jawed at my ride now.

275s up front rock too. the 305s kinda overshadow them though. if you like meat out back, 305s are the way to go. as far as i know, only the axis GT-Rs and weld forgestar 750/850s have enough offset to support the 305s so far. others have 36mm to 40mm offsets on the rear which won't cut it w/ a 305mm skin mounted on them.

welds are also 11" wide. again, the GT-R is 10.5" wide. others seem all to be 10" out back.

cheers.

[attachmentid=32905] Parents Jim and Sandy are proud to announce the birth of their 05 mustang GT convertible. We picked her up from the dealer on August 14, 2005 making her one of the last 05 GT convertibles made. She was born Windveil blue with parchment top and interior and has stock GT wheels, 5 speed, shaker 500, active anti theft. We've added a cold air intake, Borla mufflers, and a light bar. We added the mustang decal on the side when we ordered it. She is a joy to behold.

I love the pony grill. Makes it a very retro car.

I can't wait to see one in person.

BTW how much was the pony package?

The Pony Package itself is an 1195 (MSRP) option on the V6 Premium Coupe - ie not available on the standard or deluxe models. It includes ABS as part of the package which is a 775 option in itself. When you figure in that and the upgraded stereo and wheels, it makes it a no-brainer for the V6 if you like the grill which I know some people don't. Some say the fog lights are too small. I think they are great and that the GT ones look a little large but that's why they make different packages to try to appeal to everyone. Now if they had made a GT with the Pony Pkg, my husband and I would have had to duke it out as I know he would have insisted on getting the GT. As it stands, he liked the looks of the Pony Package (and the smaller price tag) so was cool with me buying the V6 instead.
