Smile Max Front Tire Width

Guys:

I've got a set of GT500 18x9.5s in my garage now, I want to put 285s on all 4 corners.

Is anyone running 285 or larger up front?
Do they rub, and how much? Any problems?

Let me know if there are any other issues.

Thanks,

Mine are only 255's up front. I have 285 on the back. I wanted something a bit narrower up front. As for rotating... I figure when I replace the second set out back, it'll be time to get new ones on the front as well.

I've heard some putting 275's (but not 285's or larger) on all four without any problems.

They won't fit the new wheels, but I'm going to keep the Fanblades and probably put Toyo RA1s on them for full-track use....so I won't be parting with them

Cool, cool....

I could settle for 275s all-around as well...

I just want to do same tire size on all four wheels for rotation, and to not induce any more understeer by having front tires smaller than rears.

I plan to track the car again in March...probably a few more times during the year as well

Saleen does 275s on all four corners on the S281 - doesn't seem to be a problem. Course, those are 20" wheels they use.

285's all around has been done many times, and I think that's what Steeda uses. Official_Style uses 285's on 18x10's on all four, and he loves them.

You'll want to check the clearance with the struts and upper sway bar end links. I have 285/40s on 18x9.5 rims with +45 offset. There is about 3/8" clearance between the tire sidewall, the strut tube and the end of the upper strut link. I haven't had any problems but there is minor rubbing on the fender liner when the wheels are turned to the limit. Tire Rack lists offset for the 2007 GT500 18x9.5 at +47 so you may have slightly less clearance.
