Material Hold
First post! w00t!
I've done some searching online and I can't really find an up to date answer on this. At the end of August '06 I put in an order for a 2007 Mustang GT Convertible, manual transmission, Shaker 1000, sirius, etc. I spoke to the dealer a couple of days ago and he said that my car is on "material hold". I've seen multiple reasons as to what this actually means. Does anyone know if there is a particular hold up on this car?
Also, I've read about people finding out if they've had VIN numbers assigned and all that. How do I go about contacting Ford to find out the status of my car? I get the feeling I'm getting the run-around with the dealer.
I have been on forddirect.com and checked out the inventories of my local dealers and they don't seem to be changing. I've also noticed that there seems to be a lack of convertibles. Is this common?
I'm sorry if this has been answered on here but I've searched and can't really find definite answers to my problems. It's killing me to not have my stang already. I was originally told 4-6 weeks on this thing and it's been over 2 months. In the words of Ricky Bobby, "I wanna go fast!"

Hmm, haven't heard of any material holds on the regular GT conv. The GT500 conv has a MH for the Shaker 1000 option.
Well, lack of conv for this time of the year is pretty common. We stopped ordering any converts a while ago. Most all of our cars right now are loaded with comfort group (heated seats!). Most dealers stock in relation to the season. Right now conv just aren't in demand in the colder climates.

Well, I guess that makes sense about the lack of convertibles. That thought didn't even occur to me.
Any info on how to get a status update other then through the dealer?
