The center console is nice, but why the recess on the drivers side with that little plastic latch inside? (Waisted space). Also Visors are so thick that garage door/gate openers dont fit around them..so all is in console organized neatly.
thats funny, my visor is too thin for my garage door opener. I found a way to clip it onto the access panel in the center console.

Don't get me started on the garage door opener. Ford should have offered a Homelink mirror from the FACTORY just like every other **** auto maker since they all get them from the same manufacturer. There should be NO reason for the buyer to pay $400 for a wired mirror and another $400 for a Homelink mirror installed at the dealer. $400 total for an electronic compass and homelink mirror is reasonable.

I dont often have to use maps, if I do, I usually keep in in the seat next to me, as I almost always take trips by myself. Also, computer printouts from mapquest (sans directions, bc they suck) help.

Ya... the door pockets are pretty worthless. I can't even get my wallet in there! Center console is fine for me. Doesn't anybody put the owners manual in the glove box?

Yes the owners manual fits in the glovebox you just have to put it in at an angle (so that the end that goes in first is canted upward). I have about 5 or 6 AAA maps that I put in first and then the manual on top and it fits just fine. Plenty of room to the side for my dial face tire pressure gage, small notepad, and pens. Not bad for as far as sports cars go.

Map pockets? Really? Where, on the door, really? You sure?

My car must have had the map pocket delete option. I didn't know my Mustang has map pockets.

Paper road maps fit in the door pockets just fine. Heck, even the fancy new plastic laminated road maps fit. Are we running low on things things to gripe about today?

I keep a few bizz cards in there. Get a gps unit. They cost less than 200 for a decent unit

Yeah they are pretty useless, as is in the glovebox, the center console i've found is only place to store stuff, other than the back seat.

Yes. The map pockets and glove box are pretty worthless. They were way better in my last car which was a Honda Accord. The only problem with that was it was a Honda Accord. Seriously, you drive a Mustang, act like it.

I started this thread months ago!

FWIW

I don't feel like spending $200-$2000 for a GPS/Nav unit when free map print-outs and a state map work just fine. The art of reading a paper map seems to have disappeared from modern drivers. I'd have to fold the maps into a 3" square to make it fit into the slits that Ford calls a "map pocket". The same maps fit into my Crown Vic's door map pockets just fine.

I noticed the tiny map pockets after I tried to stuff some maps in there and when a girl couldn't even put her purse in the pocket. When she took her Audi to lunch, she stuffed her purse into the Audi's map pocket along with a whole load of lotions, perfumes, and other stuff. I was amazed at the sheer capacity of the Audi's map pockets.

The Mustang is a fun car but the storage space is something that needs to be improved.

Map pockets: Yeah, I agree, small, but then again, all I really need in there is a screwdriver for simple emergencies and that fits. If I find a small profile socket set that will fit, that will go in the passenger side for medium emergencies.

Glove box: Small here too, but big enough for my needs: Ford manual, X-Cal2, ice scraper, tire pressure meter.

Center console container: Pretty big in my opinion, bigger than my former 00 Volvo S70's center console. I think this more than makes up for the other spaces, especially considering that this is a small sporty car.

Cup holder: Since they're useless for holding actual beverages if you drive stick, that's a good place for emptying your pockets: Phone, wallet, keys (My car keys are "alone" and detachable, because a clump of keys tickling my thigh while I drive makes me want to kill myself)
