Map pocket

Does anyone else think that the door map pockets are ridiculously small? Granted, if you have the $2000 DVD/Nav system, you won't need maps. I'm still a bit old school so I use the paper maps. I can stuff maybe one map into the pocket and that's all she wrote. I have to travel for work and like to keep several county maps just in case I need them for construction detours.

Indeed. They are terrible. Anything I want to fit in there, won't. And if it will, then I can't get it out because my hand can't fit in there.

You think the map pockets are bad, how about the glove box. The user manual case doesn't even fit easily into it without placing it at just the right angle.

Map pockets!? Thought those tiny slits in the doors were where you're supposed to hide your air freshener?

It doesn't make the best use of space for a mid-size car, does it. I've wondered why they didn't review the Miata's interior first.

They could have tossed in some coin holders by off-setting the cupholders, or by making use of that space where the console and stereo/ventilation stack come together.

That said, the reviews of the Mustang were pretty acurate. When I start driving it any defficiencies disolve away.

FWIW, I like the Stang because it's a pretty wicked and affordable ride. However, as with all Fords, they lack creativity with interior storage space. The Japanese and Germans seem to get it right most of the time with plenty of hideway compartments and properly designed storage pockets and doo-dads.

For what it is worth I found that the owners manual fits neatly and snuggly under the passenger seat, from the front...almost as though it was meant to be.

Maps fit nicely under the seats from the rear...if they are the folding type go to Home Depot and buy a HUSKY "Holdalls organizer"..about 2 bucks....
maps fit perfectly and just slide it under. Book maps will also fit under the front seats. Granted, these cars are louzy on storage but with some innovation and cretivity I have found everything fits as well as it did in my Audi a6.....including a folding unbrella under the driver's seat....just in different places.

I keep a pen or two in the door pocket. I don't cruise around with much else other than my steeltoes and my lid.

Map pockets?

I always thought those little openings were for crumpled up speeding tickets

I'm with Stoenr: Two packs of smokes fit real nicely... beats putting them in the center console with the crumpled up speeding tickets and premium gas receipts...

Great spot for the garage door opener. The pocket is small enough that mine fits snuggly in there so it doesn't slide around and there's no fumbling for it. Just hit the button in place.
... but that's about it.

I call them "vestigal" map pockets.

Tire pressure gauge or a pen, but not both at the same time because they rattle on rough rodes or when the door speakers are active.

Maps (book maps) fit between the seats and the center consol. Anything smaller than 8 1/2 X 11 will get lost there.

They are the most useless pockets I have ever had on a car....esp. since I have the Shaker1000...everything and anything will rattle if you stick it in them. As for the glove box...I agree with everyone else, shouldnt they at least make it big enough to hold the cars manual. The center console is nice, but why the recess on the drivers side with that little plastic latch inside? (Waisted space). Also Visors are so thick that garage door/gate openers dont fit around them..so all is in console organized neatly.
