I've got a rattle coming from my muffler area at idle and under slight acceleration or crusing speed. It started after I re-aligned the muffler tips with the bumper. Suggsetions for a quick fix? Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks in advance!

I would have a good muffler shop make sure you have muffler hangers attached both fore and aft, and all four of these mounts should have rubber insulators at the body mount side. It should be especially easy to fix this since it happens at idle, and you can have it up on the hoist at idle to observe the problem first-hand. Does anyone have a good muffler man recommendation for Florida? I would think this should be fixable for well under $100.

I'd check the 8 muffler mount bolts (assuming your setup uses factory hangers). A loose bolt there rattles/buzzes pretty loudly much the way you describe.

I had my exhaust upgraded when i was hit from behind. There was a nasty rattle in the muffler area like you describe and when i took it back they figured it was just the hangers. They had to send it to service to figure out it was misalligned and the rattle was vibrating all the way to the muffler area. Just something else to try if its not the hangers. Good luck.

moving this topic since the "issue" has to do with a modification and not factory parts.

What you need to look at is the hangers that are closest to the rear of the car. Since you moved the mufflers so they sit flush with the bumper, most likely the hanger is hitting the frame. When I first installed my magnaflow mufflers I had the same problem.

I had the same exact problem. When it was cold, I didn't have a problem, after driving a bit I would. Found out the exhaust grows as it gets hot.
