I don't think you need your PIN to order. You'll need it at closing.

BUT - get the general sales manager to agree to sell you at X-Plan IN WRITING - especially if you're getting a GT.

Paris is correct, you don't need the pin to order. You only need it on the day you sign the final papers, I just went through picking up my car last week, I ordered in Feb., generated my pin the night before I got the car. Just be sure that you are eligible for the plan and after you order, go put a deposit down on the car, (my dealer said I didn't need to, but after hearing some of the stories here, I did it anyway), and get the x price in writing, minus your deposit, on the SIGNED Purchase Agreement. This will give you price protection for the time between order and delivery. The price of mine went up $495 in the 17 weeks I waited to get it, but I still only paid what was on my PA.
Good Luck,
jeff

Good Luck,

I ordered my '06 GT 2 weeks ago on X-plan, and I was told that Ford is not giving price protection on the '06's...is this true? I ordered from a fleet manager. I heard similar stories elsewhere, but just wanted to confirm. He said because the '06 prices weren't final yet, that is why they couldn't guarantee, but he said if it goes up any, shouldn't be by much. I did make him an oral offer to purchase at X-plan price, and he accepted (i had a witness, too). As I learned in my business law classes, an oral offer and acceptence = contract, is as good as a written one. Btw, I did confirm orally 3 times to make sure he would sell to me at X-plan. Has anyone had problems with ordering on X-plan and then they try to not honor it?

Just curious, but why wouldn't he give you a written agreement?

Well, he did fax me a VOC (w/invoice, x-plan details, etc.) and wrote that my car had been ordered and he signed it...does that count? or am i just worrying for no reason?

Might be the same way my wife's employer (Centex Homes) is. They buy all their fleet vehicles from Ford. I guess they buy such a large quantity, that Ford puts them in their partnership program. That is how I got my x-plan.

Besides the normal friends and family program, Ford offers X-plan to employees of "Partners" which could be suppliers OR large fleet companies that buy a good number of Ford vehicles. They can get qualified to purchase under x-plan.

Well I have a question. I ordered my 06 with x-plan and already gave them my PIN, dealer said he should have the DORA this week. NO Deposit but I was going to give one anyway to secure it. Now my question is this, if I switch jobs b/t now and whenever it comes in. Am I now screwed?
