Thanks guys..... I'm already itching for the next mod.

Thinking about a jlt cold air intake and tune.

Haven't decided if I want to go with American muscle again or brenspeed. Brenspeed has the tube painted body color. Not sure yet if American muscle can/will do that.

Installed some new mods!!!!!! Got some stuff over Christmas, and got it painted body color and installed a couple months ago, thought I'd share. Got some hood struts, radiator cover extensions, and JLT series three cold air intake.

Thanks.

I absolutely love the tune. I love the JLT intake too, but the initial fit and finish left little to be desired. The heat shield was so warped at first the hood wouldn't shut. Once I removed the weather stripping from the tope of the heat shield I could get the good to shut, but it stuck up above the fender. After sitting in the sun that way for a few hours it shifted down enough. I eventually had to use a grinder to grind the top of the heat shield down enough to use the weather striping.

I'm thinking the car they used to design their original intake didn't have the good insulation on it.

Everything is great now, but it was annoying that it didn't fit properly when I first installed it.

So I've got a bad bushing on one of the rear lower control arms. I've been looking at lowers for a while, in an attempt to reduce some wheel hop. Since the bushing is going bad, I figure its a good time to pull the trigger on a set. What do ya'll think of these. They have grease fittings at both ends, and I think with the forum discount I can get them at around $100.

Wanted to get similar ones from Steeda, but at nearly double the price for what appears to be similar construction I'm having a hard time purchasing them.

Solid bunch of mods you added to this car over the years. It's really cool that you kept up with this thread every time you upgraded your GT. The car has turned out really clean looking too. I love that you painted the JLT CAI in the engine bay as well.

You'll certainly enjoy the LCA's from SR. They're much stronger than the factory units and should help you plant power more evenly to the ground.

Give us another update when you get a chance to test them out!

Well the lca's didn't come in over the weekend like they were supposed to, but they did make it in yesterday.

Got a picture below of the new ones and the oem one side by side. I must say the SR performance arms seemed well built, but they feel to be about the same weight as the oem units. (This is fine with me, I wasn't expecting them to be.) I do like the grease fittings.

I wasn't able to get much of test run with them last night, but if the rain holds off today, I'll take a spirited drive later.

Most importantly though, the squeak is finally gone!!!!!!

Also, noticed yesterday when pulling out the oem control arms that the placement of the brake cable seems bad. You can actually see on the control arm at the top, that the cable has been rubbing the metal down where it has been in constant contact during driving. I am surprised the cable didn't experience similar wear.

Update,

I've gotten to drive fairly spirited the last few days. I must say, I really enjoy what I can only describe as being better planted under acceleration. In particularly over bumps, and I haven't noticed any increase in NVH.

I will be doing the recommended second greasing soon. After that, it is only required about every oil change.

PROBLEM, Need Help.

I was feeling adventurous when I was installing the lower control arms, and thought about dropping the rear end assembly so that I could paint the rear axle housings. (Changed my mind part of the way through due to time constraints.)

Anyway, while pulling I was pulling it apart, I found that the rear caliper slider on both the driver and passenger side is FROZEN. I tried letting them soak in penetrating oil to no avail.

I have found the hardware kits to replace the bad sliders, but cannot find any info on how to do it. I'm also afraid that I may screw up the caliper bracket trying to pull the old ones out. I've thought about just getting a new caliper bracket, but can't find a rear one out there.

Has anyone had this issue?

What did you do to fix it?

Thanks for the help.

Problem fixed.

If any one is curious, it is impossible to get just the rear caliper bracket anymore. Even junk yards will only sell the entire rear caliper assembly. Which, per side, is $140 from ford, $75 from Oriely's/Advanced Auto Parts, and was $40 from the local junk yards. Due to this I decided to try again and unfreeze the ones I had.

Used some WD40 and a lot of elbow grease, plus a vice. With this strategy I was able to get to floater / slider out.

After using a steel brush and some sand paper I got the slider all cleaned up. Used a steel pipe cleaner to clean out the bracket. Even after cleaning you can still see where the pin is pitted from the rust. Afterward I just shoved a lot of grease / anti seize in the pin hole. And then wiggled the pin around until sufficiently lubricated. (AKA made sure it slid in and out real smooth ;-) )
