Lousy Dealerships
I know there have been numerous posts about both good and bad dealers. Just thought I would add my story. My dealer basically refused to give me a DORA. He said my Buyers Order was good enough. So I have had to rely on him for updates, which I think have been a pack of BS. Scheduled build week was 4/4, with a delivery week of 4/18. On 4/19, the dealer told me the car was built and awaiting rail car assignment. On 4/22 the dealer said the car was at the ramp awaiting shipping, but the car would be here by the end of this month. Today, the dealer called and said the car would be shipped carrier convoy on 5/2, with delivery that week. He also told me that there had been an MSRP increase since I placed my order (1/29) and that I would need to plan on an additional amount of about $400 at delivery. I know Ford provides Price Protection to the Dealerships (Thanks again KARPRO). I just hate a dealer that wants to squeeze all he can get out of a customer. Ford Customer Service adviserd me I should only have to pay what the amount on my sales order is, and if the dealer asks for more money, then I should call them immediately. I think I will make that call while sitting at the dealership at delivery.
I don't think you have too much to complain about. There are many of us that will not be getting our cars even though we ordered in the middle of February on the x-plan. My dealer never gave me a DORA even though I have my VOC. Never gave me any updates unless I stopped in the dealer or was lucky enough to get my salesman on the phone. You see he never returned my phone calls. Be happy, your're getting your car.
Oh yeah, recently I was told that my order has a "great probability of becoming an 06 order" Which is BS because they can't just turn an 05 order into an 06 order. You know new options, colors, higher prices etc. I'm glad you're getting your car. I wish I and a number of other people could get ours.

Good luck to both of you with your orders. Hopefully once you get your cars, you'll be in the lucky group of owners without sundry defects and have a lifetime of happy motoring!

I would demand a DORA, it is your real proof of an order and YES the dealer does get price protection for the vehicle price only. There have been some freight increases on some models plus our FDAF advertising assessment has increased and there is no price protection for those. I had just delivered 2 GT's and the price increase on those was $324 and they were ordered in Dec.

u think its just ford dealers? haha
I've posted a past rant on our dealer so I won't go into all the particulars. We also were told we would have to pay more but they told us the day the car was delivered. At the dealership we were pretty much given a "take it or leave it". Of course we took it you just can't describe the anger.
We sent a letter to Ford expressing our extreme displeasure with the whole process through the dealer, not just the money. We ended up getting a check from the dealership for the extra amount. We also got two Mustang key chains and the hard cover "Mustang Forty Years" written by Randy Leffingwell. It is a very large, 381 page book with a retail of 50 bucks.
As a side note, we did meet up with one employee at the dealership that I liked. He was a car guy. On top of the brouchure for the new stang he also gave us the Oct/Nov 04 edition of Frontline, a Ford magazine for dealers, that had a nice article about the 05. He also gave us one of the dealers 05 Mustang Product Information Books.

The way things are going, I'm not sure if I'll even get a 2006 and I started trying in April. One line that was also used was that Ford was not accepting X-Plan on 2005's, but if they will accept it on 2006 Mustang's, they will honor it. I've had an X-Plan order waiting to be submitted since June 07, 2005 and was like #8 on the list after paying them a "non-refundable" deposit of $1000.00. Last month, they said they won an award for selling a certain amount of vehicles and Ford rewarded them by pulling all of their Mustang orders. They flat out refuse to give me a DORA or even my VOC for that matter.

Can I have that address please? I'm having a very similar problem with my dealer.

I would definitely get something; DORA, VOC, etc.
I had a bad experience with my first Mustang ('99 vert) that I tried buying from Long Lewis Ford in Birmingham. I went in to the dealership around mid-January placed an X-plan order for the car I wanted.
The salesman called me back a few weeks later and told me it would be delivered in March sometime. When I called back in March it was April, called back in April it was May ...
See a pattern?
Well when he told me May I went and talked to the Manager as I was really getting upset. It turned out he never put the order in for my car. I guess since I came in saying I was a college student wearing jeans and a Tshirt I was not worth his time.
So I went that day to three other dealerships in the Birmingham area until I found one with almost everything I wanted on it. I payed have the cost of the car and financed the rest. (I had saved money when I was enlisted in the Army) I have had fairly good experiences with other dealerships, but that one emphasized to me that a lot of salesmen should not judge a book by its cover.
That said I have had a great time talking with Roy Moore at Town and Country. Thanks Brad and Scothew for the recommendation!
Good luck to you both and demand something in printed form.
