With the current exchange rate it is cheaper for me to go to the States (I'm in Canada) and buy a GT. Any dealers in WA, OR, CA that will do this? I have a deal here in Canada pending, but I have to sell my car before it will work out. Once my Mustang arrives here mid November, if I haven't sold my car I have to bail out of the deal. Any dealers in the States listed, willing to do $500 over invoice, contact me or post it here.

I talked to a Dealer here today, had one slot left on his consignment for this month, emailed him the specs and he is adding it to the list going out monday. Didnt even haggle, mentioned that I was seeing a lot of 500 over invoice sales among the people on here and he just said ok, no problem, he could do that. Going in monday to finalize. So if you wanna come allll the way down to WV to get one .... LOL. Wonder if he would give me a better deal if i start referring people to the dealer? Or at least let me go for a ride in the GT when they get it, that would be fair LOL.
cop on my back:
i was thinking about buying from states also (i live in vanc
my main reason for wanting a US model is so that i can lose the sports stripe and rear wingy.
i figure i can get used to the km's being the small part.
questions:
-what taxes do we have to pay when buying in washington state?
-i take it we also have to pay duty? (do you know what it is)
-once we get car back to border,do we then also have to pay pst and gst?
-how does insurance work? do we get temp insurance first up here,or do we get temp insurance down in states?
-guess what im asking in general is for all the info you have for buying in states, being a canadian....

I flew down to LA last year and bought a 2000 GT so I am pretty familiar with how it works. First, there is no duty. You also pay no tax at a US dealer because you are not a resident. You do have to pay %7 GST on the purchase price after they do the currency exchange. You also have to pay $100 if it has air conditioning and $182 for a processing fee, both payable at the boarder.
Once you register the car with ICBC you pay the PST. For insurance, you can buy it up here before you go down to the States, just have the VIN number on hand first. There are a few other things you must do and pay for like provincial and federal inspections, but it doesn't cost too much.
There is a website that has every question possible answered. www.riv.ca
Remember one thing, you must have paperwork from the States to export the car, this takes 3 days to do so have it done before you buy.

I don't know, it really depends if I sell my car. If I don't sell it in time, I don't think I could handle going to look at the car I ordered and know that someone else is going to buy it.
well just be happy ur lookin west. by me all american ford in hackensack the salesman told me every car is 3000 higher than it should be......and i gave him a look like SOO LONG im just here to freeload and sit in ur car. 3000 over is rediculous and i wont pay that much ever

Most dealers are marking them up 5k or more. Galpin ford said they arent marking them up, but are selling at MSRP only.
