Looking for a 2006 Mustang GT

I have a friend who wants to become a mustang owner. I recall seeing some of you guys get a 2006 gt with basic version for 19-20,000? Is this right? Hes been looking for 2000-2004 models but some of them are close to 16,000 and some cases more and Im telling him hes better off getting a brand new 06 with no options.

I don't think even a-plan (for Ford employees) gets you a basic GT for 20K. The cheapest I have seen a dealer advertise one for is around 24K with no options. I personally would rather have a new V6 (especially with 0% financing right now) than a used 2000-2004 GT unless I knew the owner and was SURE it wasn't beat on.

The least expensive 06 GT we have in stock would run in the mid 27's and the customer gets 0% financing for up to 72 months which puts the payments under $400 a month with tax and license down. Program will end on 9/5 as most dealers are running out of 06 inventory [which is what the program was intended to do].

Do you know if ford is sticking to that 10% down to get the 0% financing? Can you get away with 5% or even zero down and still get the 0%??

You are correct about dealers running out of inventory. Thanks to your "heads up" about the 0% program, I decided to go ahead and get an '06 now rather than wait and order an '07 later this year as I had originally planned.

I found a local dealer willing to take my x-plan. He had nothing I wanted in stock, but did a search and found 5 cars in other parts of the state that met my specs. The first three were sold before he could negotiate a dealer trade and the fourth had a $5K dealer-installed wheel package I didn't want. Luckily I got car #5!

I take delivery on Saturday 9/2 of a Performance White/Dark Charcoal GT Premium coupe with 17" Bullitts, side airbags, Satin IUP, active anti-theft, and (after much debate) an automatic transmission. With my x-plan it comes to $411 per month with $0 down.

I advise anyone else considering jumping at the 0% offer to do so now before the holiday weekend!

Just bought a new Torch Red 2006 Mustang V6 Coupe for my wife yesterday. It has many options, including V6 Pony Package, IUP, Front Seat Side Air Bags and Active Anti-theft. Got a great deal (Over $600 below invoice), including 0% for 72 months and the free extended 5 yr / 60K powertrain waranty from Ford. I put approximately 4K down. They didn't seem to require the 10% down to get the 0% financing. And yes, the 06's are disappearing quickly around here, especially the V6 with the Pony Package and IUP.

I'm with them on saying Thanks Ed! I was going to wait and order an 07 after my GT 500 deal fell through but I could pass up that 0%. The dealer I usually deal with in Sioux Falls, SD had exactly the car I was looking for. He had no problem taking x-plan on a 06 premium redfire GT coupe with a 5 speed manual and charcoal interior. With a $1500 trade allowed on old blue my payment came to just $338 a month. I figure I'm getting about 40 grins per mile right now.......

Check off one Mid-life crisis on the list of things to do.

FireFighter, I noticed you're in Clermont, Fl. I am in Tampa, Fl. I was looking through the Flyer (theflyer.com) this morning, a local classified mag that comes in the mail every wednesday, and I happened to notice the following ad, maybe this is what your buddy is looking for.

"2005 Mustang GT, Automatic, power, all leather, mint condition, 24K miles, still under warranty, Blue Book value $24K. Selling $19,500.
813-714-3938 or 813-949-4702"

By the way, the lowest "advertised" price I have seen on an '06 GT is $23,995.00 at Brandon Ford.

Hope this helps.

I was going to wait for an SE or 2008 Stang, but with this 0% deal, I am looking right now for a 2006 Premium GT with a 5 Speed Manual. Wish me and my sales guy luck!
I live in Ohio, so if there are any fellow Buckeye's that know where I can find one, please let me know!
Thanks!

Never heard of that . It just depends on your credit. You may need to put money down but it is not required per se. I don't know if we even have a single 06 left, any model.

FYI, There's still a ton of 06 premium GTs in So FL. Best of luck finding your new stang.

SoFL05GT, thanks! I noticed that as well. Mullinax (FL) has a couple. They are going FAST!
I told my sales guy about FL, but he said that he would be looking in the Ohio area for me.
