Anyway, that cars a winner. Hope it works out.

P.s I lived in Memphis for 6 years. In midtown for that matter. (Yikes I know!) it never snowed once while I was there.
I imagine the mileage is why it's been sitting since 6/10 on the dealer lot (per carfax). I just happened to pull it up again and they dropped the price another K today. Down to 15.9 now. Already below NADA but I'm curious how far they'll go. Was hoping to be under 15 OTD but with an 08 I'd be doing real good at 15.5 or 16 even. Just emailed dealer to get more info. I'll be there saturday when they open if we can come to a price ahead of time.

PS Midtown is great. I live over in Marion, AR where my wife teaches but I'm a grad student at U of M and doing my externship at an ENT office in town. My commute is 55 (old bridge) to 240. That will be an awesome drive in a Mustang.

I got my 07 GT premium with 7200 miles in February. They were asking 26K and I got it for 19500, the original ford window sticker is almost 32K on it new. It is loaded with all the bells and whistles, heated leather, shaker 1000. Paint is immaculate.
I was looking at 11-13's but I got me a hell of a deal on a like new 07. Put a C&L cai and a Brenspeed tune and it runs real strong!
Take your time and wheel and deal. I sold cars, there is usually 4-5K profit in the used cars! I kept getting up to leave, telling them I have more to look at. The price kept dropping and I drove it home.

Sounds like an awesome deal! Based on pictures they originally had it at 18.9. Now it's 15.9. How much room do you think they have left?

And a totally unrelated question for whomever... Did the 07s not have an inside trunk release other than on the remote? Was looking along side drivers seat on the black 07 I drove and could not find trunk release.

Not a hard mod to do yourself. I did mine years ago when others were doing the same. You can buy a new trunk release button or get one from a junk yard as I did and wire into the harness near the SJB. The mod may still be here on the forum if you search.

I personally don't have a need for it, but I believe there are also kits for it.

For when you lose your remote. The black 07 I test drove at beginning of thread was missing remote so key was only way to get it open.

This Mustang is not being sold for cheap, despite the typical and obvious sales pitch.
I'm going to agree with these guys too. When my Mazda6 got totaled and I got my Mustang, the 6 was eight years old and had 125,000 miles on it but was in far better cosmetic shape than that Mustang is. The guy who owned it did not give a crap and probably did the same amount of mechanical maintenance as he did cosmetic. The nice thing with Mustangs is that many people buy them as 2nd cars, especially GTs, so there's low mileage, better cared for cars out there for similar money.

And those hood chips come from putting up the hood when you've got the windshield wipers up too, like right after you wash the car. I know that because I did the same thing to mine last week.

I'd offer 13.9 on that car with free oil changes and drive it off the lot today.

Remind them of its mileage and age, use this to your advantage. Point out any paint chips, brakes, worn tires, seat wear.. Tell them about the incentives with cars at 0 percent interest for brand new Mustangs. Remind him how long it's been on the lot.

Lay it on firm and drive the car off the lot that day. If he tells you to **** of, trust me, he will simmer down and call back.

Remember they wanna move that car! Use it to your advantage, check the carfax, haggle, and you won't get screwed.

Which car are you referencing the GO, the black, or the sterling grey?

Hope you're all ready for a laugh.

I started emailing the dealer 2 hours away that has the 08 GO. First email they sent me they dropped to 15.5 OTD (Incl $129 doc fee) plus tax (16.2 ish total) not including trade. From what there salesperson is describing the paint is immaculate (taken with a grain of salt of course) and no defects that were hidden in pictures. I need to determine if he has driven it but we are definitely in the ballpark with them.

So I decided to go see the dealer that has the 07 Sterling Grey. I thought going in with some ammo from the other two dealers would get me leverage.

Well the first car they pulled up for me to test was a white (not grey) 07 GT but I figured what the heck. It gives me another car to compare to. Drove nicely but I did notice some chatter in 3rd gear (also noticed on the black 07 GT). Is this a common problem in Mustangs?

Well when we got back I had them bring up the actual car I wanted to drive. Beautiful shape, only a few minor scratches and other than two holes in the bumper for a front plate (curse you states that require front tags), phenomenal shape. Drove very well! Already has billet grill inserts, K&N CAI, and FLOWMASTERS so it sounded great. Just enough on acceleration but not overbearing on the highway. Also has a Pioneer head unit with nav/BT. All these are mods similar to what I would eventually like to do so if someone did it for me why not? You all were very correct about telling the difference between cars cared for by their owners. This one was in so much better shape than the black 07. No clunking in the front end at all.

Then we sat down to discuss price. They offered $500 on my trade which is fair IMO. Then I saw the whole deal sheet and I had to laugh.

$19.6 out the door!!

He asked me if I saw anything I liked. My response, "The trade value"

Then explained I had two similar cars priced to under 16 out the door. So he went and talked to his manager for 10 minutes and came back. He then had the audacity to show me the KBB for 20k and say his manager said "That was the price". Any semi intelligent person knows that KBB is overinflated.

I was all Thanks but no thanks. Here's my number if you want to talk. So if someone wants to shell out 20k for a tastefully modded 07 GT, it's a beautiful car but for me, heck no!

Leaning more and more towards the GO. If I can get them down a couple hundred more, salesperson said probably 500 on my trade, I think I'll be there first thing Saturday morning for a test drive. I think with trade I'd be at about 15.7 including taxes. I tossed out 15 OTD w/taxes and he gave me the we're already way under book line and can't really go any lower, so we shall see.

Again, you guys are great and I love picking your brains.

Thanks for all the insight.

The GO is a sweet color! I would be concerned with the miles though.

Mileage is my one reservation. If it's in as good of shape as the salesperson says, I should be golden.

Original in-service date per carfax is February 2008, that puts the car at 5.5 years old which works out to right around 15k miles/year which I believe is technically average. At least based on my driving habits it is.

Doing a little research on the "chatter" I have noticed in 3rd gear in a few of the Mustangs I've driven and it appears that is pretty typical and that a TSB is out for it. My understanding of TSBs is that they apply even if I am not original owner and am outside of factory warranty correct?

As far as I know they'll apply the TSB but you'll pay out of pocket if not under warranty. They even charge for pcm reflash tsb's unless under warranty and that to me is a crime as it's their programming that was defective from the start.

That's true. I went in for the TSB to update the oil life monitor software, as it wouldn't ever go past 5,000 miles before saying an oil change was needed, and Ford wanted to charge me for that. My service manager agreed, luckily, and finally got it warrantied and sent me a refund check.

I would slow down and keep looking. I'm in Chicago area and just searched autotrader, 05-09 GT with 45K max under $18,000. Came up with 33 cars with 300 miles, a lot of them are under 30K miles.
I just turned 14K on mine that I bought in February, 07 loaded. I will be at 75K when I pay it off. I knew as soon as I got in my car that it was babied and maintained, no questions. I would widen your search and be willing to take a road trip for a lower miles and well maintained car.
Make sure when you make that road trip you are okay with driving home that car, no regrets. I was set on a 5.0 but figured if I got the 07 for the right price I would take it. I test drove it on my birthday and fell in love with the car, I told myself I was just going to look at it! A car that they are asking 18K with low miles you can take home for 17K OTD if they want to move it, they will still make money. OTD is tax, title and plates.
