To have a slot to put your fuel cap so it does not dangle against the paint/ I know we are paying for the 300 horses and at a good price, but it could not have been too hard or cost prohibitive to design the fuel door for this. Even my '75 280Z came with a flap to drop down and protect the paint from the hanging fuel cap(course, that was a metal one).

Man, it's funny how the new posters always start out by taking shots at the car's limitations....No diss intended to you personally Rob. It just seems that's par for the course around here with the new guys for some reason...I'm sure that's an easy fix if it means that much to ya.....I agree it would have been nice, but let's hear ya sing the stangs praises a bit longer then 15 posts or so b4 ya do this.... There's SO much else that's great about the car....

Well I’m canceling my order that’s for sure.

If it’s a problem cut it off and put the cap on the floor.

If you've read my other posts, you would see where I said that I love my car. And the topic title was "little things", so I don't think it is a big deal. I don't know if you were one of the designers, so don't take it personally. It was just an observation. And don't jump to conclusions. I have been coming to the forums for a long time, it has been an invaluable source of information in helping me decide on purchasing one. Which I am very glad I did. (A silver GT premium)

Pondering on whether to slide Rob a PASS card on the above post..... ....It's all good bro....You aren't gonna catch me bombing on local Texans with '05's...It was just an observation on my end about those new to posting....Glad you love the car and have gotten as much from this site as I have....Good that you finally decided to start posting your input as well....Best of luck with it!

Good job on the quick pics Kadhir!!!

I've been considering cutting the plastic cord. Gets on my nerves. I have to admit, I was actually kind of shocked it did not have a lever in the cabin to unlock the fuel door. My $16,000.00 car did, and it had a little holder for the cap too. :P

Doesn't keep me up at night but woulda been nice.

It took a while for the teather to take shape...so I must admit it was a little annoyin' @ first because the cap would keep beating against the paint before I could get the pump in... to top it off w/ the occassional pump cut-off
Now it stays in place w/o worry

BTW... The pump cut-off doesn't seem to happen @ the stations (BP/Amoco) I now frequent B)

I'm not one of the lucky ones with a beautiful new '05, but on my '98 I was bothered by the same thing, plus the off times when the handle shutoff was a little late and the gas ran down the side of my nice black finish. SOOOO....I went to the local tire shop, got an old inner tube, cut a chunk off, cut a hole in it, slipped it over the filler neck, and tucked the rest in behind the filler door. Now when I fill up, I pull the flap out (it hangs 6" or so down the side) and the cap rests on that. And when the overfill happens, the gas runs down the rubber, mostly evaporating, but the rest just drips off onto the ground, not my paint.

Problem solved, and the price was right, too.

Is this the complaint department? Can anyone tell me where the trunk release is? And how do I lock/unlock my car from the outside without using the key and scratching the paint? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance. :bang:

No trunk release on the 05...I asked the saleman about it when I couldn't find one. I forgot now the reason why there wasn't one...but it didn't make much sense to me to lose that feature.

I cut the cord on my baby the day she arrived. I couldn't stand that thing dangling there and scratching the paint. Pain in the butt.

Search on the trunk release, don't derail this thread. But to quickly answer your question on it, keyfob works while key is the ignition, that’s all you need.
