The problem is the tight legroom area, not the lack of cushioning. I'm 6'3" and my knees will hit the dash in my Crown Vic. For some funny reason, there's more legroom in the Mustang GT, even with the extra clutch pedal.
I changed the tilt in my seat to bring my leg up and back enough so it doesn't rub against the console. That's the only way I can get my knee back enough - the seat is already back as far as it can go. Every time I use the brake I have to remember to find the right "heel slot" when I put my foor back on the gas pedal. It can be a challange in stop and go traffic. I know my left leg is not in the right place when I feel the speaker vibrate against it. Still, it has more room than my 69 Mach I.
I wondered the first day I got in mine why they didn't just pad each side of the pillar, because my knee hit too. It would have resolved this so easily.
Didn't keep me from buying it though...

I am having this same problem.... I am 6'8" and my right knee is hitting the console. Was wondering if this thing worked and if it did.... It is an inch thick...that seems to be way to thick and might stick out way to much, I see on e-bay they also have a half-inch one. Wondering if this thing might actually be of any help?
