KB 2.6L IC Installed *56K Warning*

Pics of the KB install on the 06.

1 Hour in, not mugh, a bunch of unplugging stuff

Getting to the "bolt from hell" as KB puts it isn't that bad, especially on a 5000 mile motor, came out real easy.

Cutting clearance for the CAI

Disassembly complete, oh yeah, by the way, great instructions. A piture for every step.

End of Day 1, about 8 hours after starting. It looks like not much happened, but what you didn't see was us cutting all the engine harnesses up to remove sensor wires to be relocated. That sucked, but you gotta do it. All in the name of HP.

Beginning of day 2, soldered MAF harness and relocated, installed heat exchanger.

Intake manifold installed along with intercooler resovoir.

BLOWER IS ON! WOOOOHOOOO

The 12 foot long belt!

Almost a finished product

All that is left is to install and wire the Boost-a-pump, fill the blower and engine with fluids, install the inlet tube, and flatbed it to get tuned. I'll post some dyno numbers and the finished product soon I hope.

Hey man, I don't even know where to begin....... nice pix, nice install, nice choice, nice car...... you get the idea!

Just make sure you go to a reputable tuner- take it easy on the timing and go heavy on the fuel.

Just like Tom said, it's all good! Let us know some SAE numbers after the tune.

I am getting it tuned at XXTuning in E. Hartford, CT. VERY reputable, and do a lot of high dollar stuff. Thay are a club sponsor and have tuned most of the cars in our club, many of them KB cars. I am not worried.

Thanks for the kind words, it was a lot of money to put in all at once, and I am afraid I will need a clutch after I get it tuned. I hope not, I don't think the wife will allocate any more funds to the project for a while.

Brendon - Thanks for posting the details of your installation! I'm putting the same blower on mine as soon as KB get it CARB approved for California. They tell me it is happening as we speak....

I'm particulary interested in how the engine tuning goes after the blower is installed. I'm pretty good with basic wrenching stuff but am considering a pro-shop to do the entire install for me, just to make sure it's all done correctly without hiccups.

Keep us posted on how it finishes up!

you will love the newfound power. do yourself a favor and jsut call KB now to get a 10psi pulley. You wont harm anything with a custom tune. Whipple shipswith a 10psi pulely and i ran mine most of last year with it with no issues.

Sweet pictures, sweet blower!

Getting a new hood? From your pictures, it doesn't appear that the blower pulley will clear the stock piece...

The stock hood seems to clear just fine, my Steeda upper strut bar does wear through the insulation, which I was a little disappointed about, but I might not be able to use it now.

Does anybody know if the Steeda upper will clear the blower under accel? I test fit the bar, and it clears, but not by much, and I'm not sure if when the motor rocks it will hit it. That would suck.

no current strut tower brace clears the KB SC. you are gonig to have to get by without one. i might suggest the CHE K Member brace. this stiffened up the front end a bit for me. not as much as my old STB but close enough.

Also there are no clearance issues with the KB and the hood at all.

That is the same bar I have, and it does clear, but I may need stiffer or solid motor mounts to make in clear under load, but if I leave the mounts stock, I will not risk the blower interfering with it.

Great job, but I can't believe you will put on a blower without first getting rid of that stupid hood prop rod and getting some lift struts. That thing had to be a pain in the butt to work around Nice job, and excellent write up and pics.
